gonna feed the critters and unload my brush, then head in to the house.

gonna start working on the door frame for the entry door on the garage. I wanna be able to put it up at the same time as the overhead door so that the building will be all secure...

then I can turn my focus to wiring and plumbing.

@Rockhead,
Well, that is fantastic if you do Smile Sounds like a massive home.

Positives are not "just acceptable".. Hope I didn't offend with that last post, wasn't my intention..

@FOUND SOUL,
I'm not easily offended...

anyways, I lost power about that time, and decided if it was gonna rain hard, I might as well see how my new house took it.

much nicer to be in a solid structure rather than a shaky old trailer in a storm...

I got my fence up along the alley, and cleaned some more upstairs. gonna load gram's trash on thursday with some of it.

and then I tackled some more of the undergrowth on the east side. I can see the fence now, and part of my neighbor's house.

as soon as I get the garage door up, it will no longer look vacant...

as I get the foliage cleared away, the humungousness of the place is starting to dawn on me.

I have basically lived in 400 square feet or less for a long time. even though smoky's trailer is 12 x 80, I have only used half of it at a time due to sorting his crap...

I have several extra rooms to find uses for.

eventually.

I think Ima put my air compressor inside the den over the winter. safer and warmer all around. it will prolly eventually live in the garage, but until all the construction is done, it might as well live in the house...

I have absolutely decide that I am replastering anywhere it is possible. I may even make some side money plastering for other folks...

and I love love love my second story. I spent some time up there during the rain, and it is very secluded and peaceful. not a lot of two story action in the neighborhood. like living in the trees...

I kinda always wanted an old two story house. me and the first wife looked at a number of old victorian style homes with an eye toward restoring one. decades ago...

the permit and inspection process is going to be my biggest hurdle. been doing some online research. gonna go down to central inspection soon and see what they say the rules are...

@Rockhead,
Everything about the place sounds just about perfect! Yes, I know there's a lot of work to do, but it will be so worth it!

I like the idea of your garden room upstairs - can you see other buildings at all from up there, or is it all trees in you sightline?

Good luck with that. BTW, they are now "Metropolitan Area Building & Construction," not OCI. It's now City & County combined.

@Ticomaya,
I don't wish to have anyone remember or notice me.

just want to get my power turned on.

lost the gas at the farm this morning. knew it was coming soon.

no more hot water until I get things working at the new house.

gonna be a long month, I think...

@Ticomaya,
are you familiar with a city run "class" that homeowners can take to then legally do all of their own construction work without a contractor?

@mismi,
tard.

had an episode over to the house cutting brush.

thankfully I had a pain pill and some water. and snacks...

I think I shoulda had some lunch before I jumped into major heavy duty yard work.

but I got the weeds at the mouth of the alley all cut down, and I cleared the rest of the undergrowth along the east fence.

I no longer have the worst yard in the neighborhood. I'm actually in the upper half now. it's starting to look really nice...

and I knocked out the foundation on the garage where I need to enlarge the entry doorway. I'm gonna just build my own jamb.

I also purchased the cutest little itty bitty teeny tiny bathroom sink. white porcelain. $10. it will look really good with some antique looking faucets on it and the tub. they had a cool old clawfoot tub setup, but I really don't have the room.

I was gonna enlarge the bathroom using the bedroom next to it's closet, but that is a brick wall. not gonna knock it down.

I think I am going to add a second bathroom upstairs instead...

they spray painted all of my underground utilities except the water.

I still can't find it.

while I was cutting down trees and weeds today, I took out the ornamental giant grass out by the street where my meter might be. nope.

tomorrow when I arrive, I am gonna take a metal rod and hack around in the earth until I find the meter. from there it should be a straight line into the house...

I think I will stop posting until I get this figured out.
