@FOUND SOUL,
fantastic is an awfully strong word...

things are progressing at an acceptable rate.

I got to thinking that my garage door guy never called me back, and it has been much more than 10 days.

so I called him to make sure we still have a deal...

and we do.

probably first part of the week I go take it down.

gonna have to take it kinda easy today. still wonky from my long day yesterday.

but I need to get into town before 5.

gotta go re-apply so I can work at the casino.

they have announced a hella show schedule for the next year, and I need to be rigging there...

@Rockhead,
How big is the casino? The ones I went to were far too small to need riggers.

It does sound as if things are going well. Everything seems to be falling into place. Do watch your health though, you can't afford to be ill Very Happy

@vonny,
they seat 7,000.

and they are promising a show a week.

Tim McGraw is in a month. Journey was just there. moody blues are coming.

they are outscheduling the arena big time...

(I'm always a little ill. it's just part of the game now)

@Rockhead,
7,000 - strewth! Sounds a massive venue. I just can't visualise anything that big! Arenas like our o2 arena in London are vast - it seats about 20,000, but I don't think we have any casinos that match up to yours.

Always a little ill? Snap - me too - but the big difference is that I don't have to cope with work and a new house and everything else you cram into your extremely busy life. Good luck to you - you need it!

@vonny,
you have the NHS.

I am a lot better than I was a few years ago, but still hafta stay within certain parameters or the wheels fall off the bus.

anyways, the arena in town seats 16,000. I think.

the casino is not as voluminous, or tall. (it is a different kind of rigging. much safer)

but there is still a lot of stuff that has to be secured up above the crowd for it to work...

@Rockhead,
The more I read posts like Roberta's, the more I feel gratitude that we have the NHS. It's bad enough having health problems - of any kind at all - but when those problems are chronic, then one relies totally on the NHS to make one well again. After my accident, I had four years in which I was in and out of hospital again and again and again. No way would I have been able to pay for it privately.

America has superb surgeons and hospitals, but there don't seem to be any safety nets for people who aren't fortunate enough to have money or medical insurance.

@vonny,
or want to change jobs once they have been diagnosed with a chronic disease.

America is the satire of health care systems...

@Rockhead,
I can see that happening here in the future, unfortunately. The NHS is in disarray at the present time - successive Governments keep chipping away at it, reforming it, and rejigging it - the next thing will be privatisation - shareholders having to be satisfied - then the public having to take out private insurances before they can be treated. Meantime - grateful that I live now!

@ehBeth,
got a lot done, even if I never made it outta second gear...

I am certified to work at the casino. I will be working Tim McGraw, and maybe before that.

and I went over to grams and got her groceries. (a box of 50 homemade oatmeal cookies. and some baggies so she can freeze some and not OD)

then I stopped and talked with my head rigger for a bit. he is rebuilding an inner city house similar to mine, but bigger. 3 story historic...

and I got some gumbo.

then watered at my landscaping gig.

stopped in and talked with my painter.

grabbed some gumbo. (warming it up now)

picked up my big welder from mr vw's, came home and unloaded it.

and now me and stinky are sitting down for a bards.

very productive for a recovery day it were...

amazing how much better I feel after sleeping for 12 hours...

I didn't make any plans, as I was unsure how fully I would be recovered, but I am about as good as I get now.

so Ima take a shower and feed the critters.

and then dive into something big. I will decide what as I get ready to go...

I used to be a really good diver when I was young.

now that I'm a rigger, I try not to think a lot about it...

I cleaned and raked the area west of my house that will become my pond garden eventually.

gonna sink posts and run wire fence next time I go there.

I had to run off a coupla guys when I arrived. they asked about renting the place, but they had the trunk open and were walking around behind the house...

I don't think they will be back.

still not sure if I am going in or staying here today.

kinda unmotivated yet. I wanted to still be asleep, but that didn't work out. mebbe a shower is the ticket...

there was a time, long ago, when I was very into carving.

I've been hanging out some down at my buddy J's shop. where he makes the cool castings for shifter knobs and beer taps and sculpture.

and getting re-inspired...

I'm going to carve some tree spirits for my garden.

stuff like this.
