the humidity has dropped off during the drought, and it's an almost bearable 89 degrees in the shade.

got the kid pulling the head off'n his pickup truck.

gotta replace it...bad valve.

finishing up the planter, and gonna place my vincas and hyacinth beans. shade for the patio by august...

dusted for fleas, made the cats kinda crazy, must be doing something.

feels like summer now...

planter is done.

it's been like a big sore thumb there with nothing but the odd weed. (it runs the whole side of the patio bordering the big curved garden with the large tropicals in it.

got my hyacinth dropped in behind as well.

now I gotta run my wires and give it something to climb.

gonna have shade on the whole south end, i'm hoping...

tarred now.

wish it was this nice of a daytime.

80 and a slight breeze now.

tomorrow is motor swap day...

@Reyn,
Si...

been slowly rebuilding the bathrooms in Smoky's trailer house.

today is turlet removal day. (got gloves and wipes, it's kinda yucky)

on a nicer note, got one pole up on the fence over the planter, but gonna hafta do two...

but the overall natural patio cover idea is in full bloom, as are the vines involved.

gonna rock...

@Rockhead,
EW. Removing toilets is a messy job. You know what I saw that I actually thought was kind of cute? There was an old shack in someone's back yard. They took an old toilet and put it in there and used it as a planter...impatiens...they left the door open so when you went into their backyard it looked like an outhouse...it even had a half moon on the door. I thought it was really cute. And pretty funny.

Of course - I do come from a long line of rednecks...so this decor probably wouldn't suit most folks. Razz

@Reyn,

been over to the vw place. we don't much work on weekends. got plants instead.

it's raining today. been waiting 2 weeks for rain so I could dig mexican sunflowers. mine did not come back this year.

and trumpet creeper. gonna put it around the pond as a hummingbird attraction and neighbor screener.

off to plant as soon as I finish my PBJ sammich...

@Rockhead,
Ah, Rockymoose, I used to watch the humming birds dart in and out of my trumpet vine in Virginia. The hibiscus bush here reminds me of it, and I saw two of those little ruby throated things not too long ago.

@Letty,
my friend has an old utility pole wrapped in fence that is a 30 foot tall trumpet tree in the summer. he has plenty o' starters. (says I will hate him in 5 years for it) my sprigs are 8 and 12 feet long, so they should start fast...

we'll see if it brings in the hummers or not.

I know I am not the guy in charge of rain, but if I was...

two weeks without a drop, and now 3 1/2 inches in 6 hours.

i woulda spread it out a little more, but oh well.

did all my planting, and half of the weeding.

gonna stop and make something hot to eat for dinner...

@Rockhead,
looks like you get to keep the rain band that was supposed to come here. We're in a sauna with a cold front (and associated rain) stuck over near the quad cities.

Here's a video of the latest progress in my garden. Hope you'll take some snaps of the work you're doing in your garden and share them too.
