@farmerman,
one of my neighbors just shot a guy for stealing his vehicle last week.

we're kinda jumpy out here...

I'll leave him a night light out by the road, and he can call me as he's getting close.

I'm in the boonies, especially after dark...

@Rockhead,
we had a gang here about 25 years ago and again about 10 years ago. They would come in and steal your equipment. Then theyd sell it to some farmer in the next county and then, a few nights later, theyd steal it from him (knowing that he wouldnt dare call the cops)

One of our neighbors with the hog farm put several punkin balls into their van and thats how the cops got em.

"You seem to have two bullet holes in the back of your van, have anything you want to say about that?"

got a call.

kid is on his way.

he's a rigger from cali.

the cold is not his favorite thing...

but I put some battery powered lights out, and left the trash can out there for them to light something up.

if he has phone signal when he gets here, I will guide him in.

if not, he will figger it out sooner or later, I'm only a half mile outta the sleepy little whistlestop...

got my leftovers fridged, gonna go stoke the fire and cut some volkswagen rust out...

well...

he wants to buy a battery at the least.

(I have a really nice one outta the vanagon I just squished. $75)

and he likes my truck betterer, but it doesn't run yet.

I will hafta put a starter on it first.

and then a front and rear windshield.

and if I hafta do more than that, somebody loses a shirt...

we'll see what he wants to do.

I told him I thought I could put it on the road for $1150...

my neighbor was eyeballing him through the blinds as he pulled down the driveway.

better than a watchdog, I tell ya...

@Rockhead,
F-350, was it?

I don't know anything about it (of late). Where is it?

@Ticomaya,
It hasn't run under it's own power since you drove it.

and it has sat next to my horse barn for the last 3 years or so.

how were the brakes?

the pieces are all falling together...

battery is configured correctly.

starter is dirt cheap. as is the rear glass.

(I'll pay myself for the glass install. it sucks...)

and the title is in due process.

hopefully a timeline will emerge with it that corresponds with my mechanical adventures.

this is a good thing, as I need to travel the storage title path a coupla more times in the near future...

vert guy never called.

imagine that...

went over to talk with grampa jack while I was waiting for my guy not to show up.

he's just a mile or so away.

they are building a grain elevator in betwixt us. kinda cool to watch it going up...

anyways, he is gonna help me try and trap my fox. (yes, a live trap)

this could get interesting and fun.

and we're gonna get me some cabinet doors so I can restore my kitchen to the modern era...

he should be back from having his coffee with the fellas over to the bar.

Ima go back and dive into his storage barn looking for doors.

I may find a lotta stuff I need.

(he wants his rocker panels replaced in his old dodge. we'll swap for it)

cool.

he has a large pile of doors he hand made 20 years ago.

very nice, and a piece of local history when he passes...

more than enough to do what I want to here. enough left to do the bathroom if I decide to.

now I have an evening open in front of me, and a fire going in the shop.

I think I'm going to start cutting a scrap hood apart. (I accidentally ran it over the other day)

if it goes well, I will use the piece to patch the rusted structure on the vert hood, and make fixing the skin a lot easier.

after this operation, it's all smooth sailing until we spray color...
