If you're losing your mind, don't count on turnips to help.

Although I've heard they can be nutritious <yeah, right!>

Turnip GREENS are good for you. Not the white part..which may be but I know the green parts are. High in antioxidents and all that...it is very much a southern dish.

Here's a link.

Does she mean the turnip itself or the greens I wonder?

There are some foods that make me gag. Liver. The texture is heinous. Rutabega's. Yuck.

I love turnip.. just not the cooked kind, or at least the smashed stuff my mother used to feed us kids. The idea of can turnip almost made me puke. Thanks for that... lol

@Ceili,
the witch I grew up with was very adept at opening a can, heating for 10 minutes, salt and serve.

I used to not like broccoli or asparagus, until I discovered they were available fresh.

I may smuggle in some candied yams just in case I can't abide her turnip specialty...

(she doesn't have a sweet tooth)

and she is much more fond of tofu than I am. prolly from working in the tofu industry...

Ima be offline for an hour or so while I play at being a carpet layer.

my half of the trailer looks amazingly nice, clean, and almost normal. even the 2 shotguns in the corner are par for kansas trailer decorating standards...

@Rockhead,
We lost the battle on the chicken front, we had about a dozen, lost about one a day for awhile, then some peace....then finally lost our rooster, then the next day, the last three hens. Not sure what took them, as we have coyotes {Ki-yote}, fox, and wild dogs.

My wife was sick, so we have started over with about 2 dozen babies.

On Turkey day, I will not leave the house, I married a very good cook, and on that day I take full advantage of it. By my reckoning, by Fri night, I will top the scales at 243 lbs......I currently weigh 212.

@Roberta,
nope.

PBJ most likely.

I stopped as I left town and donated the turkey I had purchased.

I got no oven action.

gonna work extra hard on the vert.

and be thankful they can't turn the power off on a holiday.

while I hafta assume that this is an ugly pattern that doesn't bode well for my future, at least this one didn't say never ever in a million years if I was the last man on earth...

but I'm guessing I stay sans girlfriend for the foreseeable future.

in hindsight, it is definitely best I am not visiting for thanksgiving.

I am a big RG3 fan (I wanted the 'phins to take him), and he is currently ripping the cowgirls a new rectum.

I would be hard pressed to conceal my glee.

and we were to eat after watching this awesome game...

turnips.

that shoulda been my first clue.

after the cowboys nonsense, of course...

hope alla y'all are doing better'n me today.

really...
