@mismi,
I've been plotting this since batman. (cool shirt, btw) and assembling ingredients here for the possible occasion.

kinda having his house to my lonesome today.

gonna call K in a bit, but I'm not much of a chatty cathy on the phone as a general rule...

not sure how the game is posed to be played anymores...

@Rockhead,
Not a game. course you know that....

Don't have to stay on long...just tell her you had a nice time and that you were thinking about her. Just non committal enough to make her wonder.

Not that you were trying to do that or anything.

home. tard.

one of the ferals was waiting for me in the driveway clear out at the road.

came running back ahead of me to announce chow time.

kinda funny...

I like the way my truck smells after being with K.

and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

even though I gotta buckle down and work my ass off here at the farm...

gotta crash.

havin a cuppa.

mebbe another in the cards...

trepidatious about turnips, I am.

gonna be eating some on thursday. and my last encounter was less than pleasant, albeit 30 years prior...

I might be losing my mind.

gonna take the rest of the day and stop the whirlwind enough to clean what I claim as my house.

not gonna worry about the smoky stuff...

and get my laundry all caught up.

@Rockhead,
I've just finished hanging clothes on the line and on a couple of old wooden clothes dryers I had in the basement.

The dryer stopped tumbling partway through today's second load.

I am not impressed.

hmmm turnips

a little bit of turnip goes a long way - mashed with other root veggies they add a nice zip. not sure what I'd do if someone put a bowl of straight out turnips near me.

@ehBeth,
my problem was then and I'm afraid will possibly be now a sudden retching impulse.

it caused me lotsa problems as a child.

(it seems to be considered impolite, no matter how involuntary)

I have a gas dryer. there's a clothesline pole set outside, but I'd hafta restring it, and I don't really want my nebbors seeing my underthings...

@Rockhead,
People serving you food aren't looking to make you sick or make you eat something you don't eat. Can't you eat around them or just say no. If the mere presence of turnips makes you gag, that's a whole other problem.

@Roberta,
turnips are part of the evil triumvirate from my childhood.

I would like to overcome them, but we'll see how that all works out.

I carpeted my kitchen and bathroom today. and brought the rest of the plants in from the porch.

got the bedroom ready to move all the furniture and the computer out so I can carpet in here.

mebbe tomorrow...

gotta crash.

not sure how tomorrow will play out yet.

got an early phone query to make first...

@Rockhead,
Are you talking about white-flesh turnips or orange-flesh rutabagas? I grew up thinking turnips were strong orange-fleshed things but I find that the white-fleshed ones are quite mild. The white ones come in all sizes. Maybe you could buy a small one and cook it up for a test run at home before Thursday. I peel and dice them and throw them into soups in place of potatoes. They cook up pretty quickly.

@JPB,
the ones she used to make were white. I would imagine they came in a can, but either I never saw her make them, or I have blocked it out.

she was not much for fresh veggies that I can remember. open a can and warm it on the stove. add salt and serve...

all I can remember is smelling them cook and starting to have stomach pains.

K says she even eats them raw.

<shudder>

I had some canned rutabaga the other day. it was ok. with brown sugar and butter...
