I fired up the wood stove in the shop. it was getting nippy, headed for 42.

now I have the doors open to let it cool down.

I forgot how good it works...

but I love the smell and sound of the wood burning.

it's gonna be a verra good winter, I think.

havin' a coconut bliss frozen choco-bar while I plot my next move...

I gotta get my schedule shifted back toward normal a bit...

I'm not tired, but if I don't crash now, it's gonna be light outside.

my paint bench is all ready, shop is clean and organized, and my material is inside getting nice and warm.

tomorrow is gonna be a good day...

@ehBeth,
egg zachary.

with a bonus.

mr vw has decided he can no longer try to fix the type 3 with it's existing harness.

I happen to have a virgin one. on my future trike squareback parts car.

and 1971 vw fuel injection wiring harnesses with a computer are mighty rare.

gonna go find a price while I warm up my dinner...

I'm behind.

but I keep finding areas that need just a little more attention before the epoxy primer goes on.

the sandblasting is all done.

and I vacuumed and swept and blew with the air gun, and vacuumed and swept and vacuumed again.

it will drop sand for the next year. part of the bargain...

gonna unseal and reseal the motor, and then start taping off all the stuff that doesn't get paint.

I'll prolly quit before shooting it tonight, tomorrow is to be even nicer as far as temps go.

and I will have a fresh head...

and a shower

(I'm verra sandy tonight)

@Ceili,
I have some soda that I use in really fine spots.

it's about 8 times more expensive than sand.

I'm using really really fine sand. special stuff from the concrete plant.

it is very gentle, but not $uper expensive...

I can't begin to express how glad I am to be past the paint and rust removal phase.

got my guns all clean and laid out, and the front half of the car washed with lacquer thinner. I'll still have to hit it again with the wax and grease remover before I start shooting.

it looks fabulous...

I think Ima have fun tomorrow night.

now I gotta hurry up and crash. busy morning tomorrow if I can swing it...

I'm stranded over to mr vw's for a bit.

my horse got shot out from under me...

the bonneville has to have a motor. next week...

(he's buying it, and I get to put it in in his shop. with a lift)

so ol' bob dropped me here on his way home.

and D will come take me back to the ranch shortly...

after she gets off work.

so Ima have a cuppa and wait...

@Rockhead,
the disturbing knocking was a death rattle?

@ehBeth,
indubitably.

a main bearing is the best guess...

if it were a rod, I shoulda seen it in the oil when I changed it.

Ima pull the pan first just for giggles, but he has already purchased a motor.

(this is why I buy lotsa cars through him)

two days in the old salvage shop will be like a working vacation.

I enjoy my time there.

ol' bob don't have a lotta summers left.

but we're enjoying the days as they happen...

it's time to quit shooting pictures and start shooting paint.

it's all masked off, and my gun is dialed in...

letting the heat build up nicely before I go mix.

kinda feels like old times.

in my twenties I shot quite a lot of cars. usually about this time of night.

although I am considerable more sober than I remember being then.

mebbe a pain pill is the answer...
