Or it was until the pharmaceutical industry decided they needed more revenues and convinced the medical community that it should be 5. The current recommendation is every five years. I tend to not want to be the source of Big Pharma's revenue stream so I go with the older recommendations - or at least closer to them than the new ones. I wouldn't be running off to the hospital or doctor for a tetanus booster at year 6. OTOH, you're chronic issues may put you into the "immunocompromised" group, in which case I wouldn't fool around.
