@Rockhead,
Yeah, the pioneers used to lose limbs left and right. They didn't run to town.

@Rockhead,
Do keep an eye on it. If it looks abnormal go get one somewhere. I would be like you and willing to soak it. Do you have Epsom Salt? Soaking it in that would be a good idea. Whenever I had blood poisoning that is what the doc told me to do.

Do take care por favor.

@Ticomaya,
I just read a helpful statistic: Without treatment, only one out of three people die from tetanus.

@Ticomaya,
Quote:
... the spores of C. tetani are resistant to antiseptics that are used to clean wounds. You'll have to head to the hospital for an antitoxin known as tetanus immune globulin. The antitoxin must be administered soon after the injury as it can only attack circulating toxins, not the tetanospasmin which may have already attached itself to a nerve ending. Those who don't seek treatment face the risk of their entire body freezing up; the rigorous treatment regimen includes sedatives, muscle relaxers, days spent in a nonstimulating environment (which gives the nervous system time to recuperate) and possibly even surgery.

Rust isn't the problem. It's the "spores of C. tetani".

I suppose if you get lockjaw you can still type ...

One time I stepped on a nail and I duct taped a thick chunk of raw potato to the bottom of my foot overnight. The next morning you would not have known I ever stepped on it.

@Rockhead,
It's a good time for a break. Being non-productive for a day is good. You are due one anyway. It's exhausting seeing all you do!
