@eurocelticyankee,
the guys over to the ace place all know me by name and location...

got awakened many times by the phone. went back to sleep.

now I gotta return calls.

2 stage calls.

and one from the crispy kid. no telling what he wants, but it's prolly nothing good for me. I'll call him last...

and my neighbor telling me my chickens are out. (I left the door open last night)

I need a cuppa. 3 days of raininess. but highs in the 70s and lows in the 60s.

I think we are turning into Cali...

@Rockhead,
Unsupervised chickens can get pretty independent.

@edgarblythe,
they don't know about the fox yet.

I've been waiting to tell them.

not that that damn rooster would listen.

he's very cocky...

I gotta go rescue mr vw.

he bid putting back together two freshly painted doors at $200...

Shocked

he's been on it for a day and a half.

and he can't make the window scrapers fit.

I stopped by yesterday to show him how the window tracks went in. (he had to take the latch and handle back out) there is a specific order that all the goodies have to go in...

I would guess next time he just gives them my card.

but it won't be 2 bills...

@ehBeth,
more likely I hafta buy some new chicken wire fence.

then I can just be a prison guard...

I really want to make them free range, but they aren't listening much.

oh well, I'm in town now, and my neighbor just chased them back toward the coop.

I'm almost done over to mr vw's.

the lightning had his/my computer jacked up...

this would be a bad time to mention the goats...

it looks like rain.

sooooo.

I think Ima go down and show my mower guy how to lay his bricks...

and if he can do it alone, I will come back here and weld something.

what it will be depends on the rain...

I got a box of food together to drop off to him while I'm there. (stuff I can't eat that smoky has had for a long time, but is still ok.)

I'm trying to clean out enough pantry space to get all of my food and cooking implements in here where I live now.

by the weekend things should settle in.

so I can go work...

I shoulda known better than to think I wasn't gonna have to do this myself.

but it looks good. and he's gonna be safe when I'm done.

he said "dang, you're really good at this stuff, I bet I could get you some more brick jobs"...

I had to tell him no thanks, I don't wanna do it for a living, I like being a rigger and stagehand just fine. thank you verra much...

home for a popsicle, then I gotta go back and clean my grout lines up.

and it feels like home...

2 packs would be proud of me.

which reminds me, I was s'posed to call him.

I'll do it tomorrow whilst I am out running errands. got a bunch of them.

I needa make a list so I don't forget something else. like chicken food...

but my brick pad for his woodstove is a rockin' nice bit of work.

three of his pavers were broken in half, but you can't even see the cracks...

it has to set up for a few days.

after I recover from lion king next week, we will reconvene and do the backing wall.

and then cut the hole in the roof.

Ima help him all the way through.

it's easier than worrying about him burning hisself out...

change o' plans...

was gonna go run errands. now I think Ima wait till tomorrow.

gas is killing me.

I think this winter I gotta rebuild my honda prelude motor...

gonna switch to work pants and go be productive.

looks like rain, but the temps are real nice and comfy...

maybe I can gain some ground on the vert.

I think Ima tackle the broken nutserts for the fenders.

I'm trying a new fix for a common problem.

and my head is clear enough today to engineer a good simple solution...

bubba is now at peace with the new digs.

she's crashed in the footwell of my desk. if I'm not careful, I'll step on her.

and stinky is sprawled across the doorway poised to let me know he thinks the dry food bowl has passed a comfortable spot in his mind, and could use topping off...

it's incredibly calm peaceful when I don't have the chilis cranked up.

I can't wait until I get my portal in the shop set up.

I think I will get a lot more done.

mebbe...

won't know for what until I get there...

*Mary Jane Teall

"As a child, Mary Jane Houston used to stage circuses and other shows on her grandfather’s lawn in Tekamah, Nebraska, charging 2 cents admission and even building the plank seating out of lumberyard scraps. She would go on to earn her master’s in theatre from Northwestern University and direct GI productions during World War II.

Coming to Wichita in 1944, a single parent of two children, Mary Jane Teall would soon become the “First Lady of Wichita Theater.” She co-founded the Wichita Community Theatre in 1946, and was hired as professor of speech and drama at Wichita University. Retiring from WSU in 1982, as associate professor emeritus of speech communication and theatre, she would return to WSU each summer to direct the summer theatre program. In 1989, she resigned from WCT after 43 years, but continued her “Laugh at…” comedy revues and produced a number of shows with the Center Theatre for Young Audiences. A diminutive, yet highly energetic woman, she was considered to have “created theater in Wichita,” and in 1981, was inducted into the Kansas Theatre Hall of Fame. In 1989, the little theatre at Century II was renamed in her honor.

In 1994, she was driving to the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch to teach a class on improvisational theater when she was fatally injured in a car accident. To honor her memory and her great passion for theater and the Wichita community, the Mary Jane Teall Theatre Scholarship Fund was established in 1995."
