one of these days I will have a wood shop next door. right now it is full of smoky junk and lumber scraps...

gotta put a motor mount and both stab-link kits on an escort yet tonight.

she returns tomorrow and will want her chariot back...

and I will venture to the grocery store after the bank opens.

she is on a high.

her son graduates from marine basic training tomorrow. and she got to hug him for the first time in 2 months today.

and they drove him around base (he can't leave yet) in a red mustang convertible.

I helped her do the magic travel planning thing.

they are having a blast, and will return very tired and worn out on saturday night.

gonna go finish her car so and get it down south to her place so she can jump in and go work the next morning. 8 am stage call...

off to play mechanic for an hour.

I gotta move it outside for the night. it's half in and half out of the shop.

I gotta lock the doors before I crash. not gonna risk losing what I've worked so hard to collect in the way of equipment. lotsa thievery happnin' around here of late.

I learned a lesson today...

while I take care of a lot of folks, there ain't anyone looking out for me.

I walked about 9 miles today getting home.

finally stopped in a midtown bar and waited to see someone I might know. and pay for a lift closer to home...

I have been gone way too long to play that game here anymore...

my puppies are sore, and my hip is on fire.

but I'm home, and the escort is back down south in the middle of nowhere. and ready for her return from the airport...

9 miles is a long way to walk. I would be WIPED out.

it's all still built on sand.

smoky is still not permanently placed, and finances are paper thin between schemes...

but I am producing benjamins in groups now. and have dominoes set up to fall if I can keep the pace.

gonna go clean in the shop and see if I can catch a higher gear.

stuck in second gear

second gear is where you wind up when your 4 speed automatic transmission gets screwed up and goes into "limp mode".

I try to avoid that. it usually means a costly repair is in order...

if I can't catch third, I am plenty used to low.

I can use overdrive now on occasion, but I usually pay for it later...
