had to let the sander cool down.

it is a lesser tool than I wanted, but there was no middle ground.

and I can't bring myself to drop $180 on a tool I may not pick up again for a year or two...

If I roast it, it has a 90 day replacement warrany...

floor grinding all completed. changing from the free with sander belt to an expensive gator belt helped tremendously.

it is now smooth enough to lay down the finish plywood top layer and glue it. then we'll add lotsa filler and sand it again so I can lay some vinyl...

what a weird day this is being...

got awakened at 9 by my friend. she was supposed to leave her car in short term parking at the airport and do the key in my way so I could pick it up and fix it while she is in Cali.

she firked up and parked in long term...

$3 an hour until it flattens out.

so I bummed a ride with my neighbors who were going vinyl shopping. after a very painfully groggy shower.

and none of my manager friends are working today at the parts stores I frequent, so I hadda edumacate a new kid.arrrrgh...

got most of my parts, but hafta wait for a motor mount to come from the warehouse, so I wandered over to mr vw's after a quick stop at the health food joint.

where I was chatted up by the little gal I had asked to order my brownies. (she did, eating one now)

she has similar gut troubles to mine.

but had that twinkle in her eye when she spoke to me. (not a sales twinkle, I'm immune to that)

I must be getting healthy enough that I'm no longer giving off that impending death vibe.

I got some new shades to try and dull the effect for now...

my finances are not capable of sustaining much flirtation, let alone any kind of full time program just yet.

but soon, maybe...

it's kinda cute...

this started out as a basic fixit project, but as we've gone further into it, the budget keeps growing.

they got some fancy stone tile looking vinyl, and a rather expensive sink cabinet... (remember, I bought a used sink for $10 to start the bidding)

I was gonna make the cabinet, but she wanted drawers. not gonna build drawers for what I'm charging.

and they are enjoying shopping for upgrades...

now I gotta find my trowels. I haven't used them since I put the stove into the cabin.

I needa build some more shelves, and sell the tractor, then mebbe I can find all my tools when or if I need them.

my auto and fab stuff is all nicely organized, but my house building stuff is hither and yon...

damn.

I shoulda been a floor guy...

but my project has turned out beeeeautiful.

laid it down dry and cut it to fit, and it is sweet.

even dude said it looked "professional"...

anyways, I came home for a snack and a chat with bob, and Ima go spread glue after a freezipop.

and I will be done for tonight.

with that project.

I think I gotta do some shop time before it's all said and done...

my shoulder is all jacked up from yesterday's plywood fitting adventure. I wore a modified back heat patch most of the day.

woke up late and fuzzy, but stable. I think.

then mr vw calls and asks if I wanna work on a volvo.

he has no idea...

some guy left a message, and has 2 of them and needs some help.

I'm guessing they are old antique ones. in which case I'm willing to hear about them and what he needs, and what his finances are like.

but if they are newish square boxes with computers, I'm out.

he's gonna call him back and decide whether to give out my number or not.

and Ima go set a terlet on my new floor while all that plays itself out...

Buddy embrace the weird days, their usually the best.

got to a decent stopping point.

terlet is set.

new sink cabinet is cut for plumbing and set.

countertop is glued down and to the wall.

mirrior is glued to the wall (it was not before and almost cost me 7 more years)

gotta replumb the drain, but not tonight.

gonna let all my glue set and head over to the retreat and hang out with friends.

I need a family dinner in the worstest way...

what a lovely place the retreat is for an evening...

topped off my karma. ate a nice mostly vegetarian dinner. (someone sneaked some salmon in)

enjoyed some quality time with bob.

gathered up a bit of leftovers, and drove on out to the ranch, enjoying the crisp night air and all the stars.

figgered I better put some van M. on to sleep to.

I'm afraid that the surreal image of omjustDave mounting a flag in his front yard and the befuddled and horrified looks on his neighbors faces might sneak in if I don't flood my mind with more slumber-appropriate images to cogitate on...

got dang my friendly helpful wrong-parting ace man.

all of my fittings are inch and a half except the sanitary tee. it loops off to one and a quarter...

I knew I shoulda just told him to leave me alone and let me do it right by myself.

now I gotta go back and get a reducer, and 2 inches of inch and a quarter pipe.

which I refuse to pay for...
