I feel like I am at the tunnel entrance to freedom, but there is a giant iron grate that was not there before.

I can see out, but I am stuck here...

trying to raise a little capital to break free...

worked until 4 last night.

making magic...

repairing pinhole rust on a vintage hood with the welder, then grinding it smooth and sandblasting it. no plastic until just before color, and only to smooth...

got 2 fenders ready for epoxy.

but I'm outta sand. and grinding discs. and welding tips. and real low on DA paper...

I could be ready for color in less than a month if I could keep smoky self contained, and had enough supplies to get to the next job and some real income...

think mebbe Ima hit gram for a small business loan.

we don't talk money often, but she's the only one that knows enough where I was for the last 5 years to want to help right the ship.

we'll see...

I decided to let my chickens out to be free range guys today.

they ventured about 5 feet out the door for ten or fifteen minutes,

now they are all back in the house.

and I was so excited about the decision...

The chickens will daily become bolder until they become virtually independent. They will probably seek other roosting places more and more.

that's not gonna work out so well...

I still have a fox on the back acre.

I plan on cooping them and locking the door at night.

we'll see...

I gotta take smoky to go vote...

he asked me if I was gonna, and I said no.

then I asked him what he was voting for, and he didn't know.

but he was damn sure gonna go vote his vote anyways...

why is this so scary to me......?

back.

he wanted me to take him to town for cigars, but I had an appointment scheduled for as soon as he got done voting.

told him to schedule it or put it on a list for when I was in running errands.

no more stopping my life for his whims.

and I got snowplow guy into a good place.

he finally got his 4x4 back from the flaky transmission dude.

with a new transmission in it.

seems it wasn't the motor I put in it after all.

hmmmmm...

so with my new cred, we are starting back in on his old Chrysler.

I found an adapter, and we're gonna put the carb on it this week.

and I ordered some rings that his guy has been trying to get for his firked up Nissan for 8 weeks.

they'll be here tomorrow...

needa eat something and go work on the vert.

coolish and drizzly all day.

feels like heaven...

What!, drizzly all day is heaven, jaysus who knew?, I'm living in heaven. ha ha.

the only thing growing next door is trumpet creeper (barely) and prickly pear (thriving)

we averaged over 100 degrees last month...

and had zero measurable rainfall.

dante would have felt right at home...

I put my chickens up for the night. (they were in, I just latched the door)

and I dint have to feed them. they ate what they could catch today. and the rooster ate a lotta green plants...

tomorrow is shaping up into quite an interesting if somewhat foreboding day.

not gonna sandblast tonight, I gotta get me a special setup before I do it again. even with a real shower, I still feel like I been at the beach...

I have enough DA paper to make a dent on the doors tonight.

we'll start there...

had a blt sammich.

gonna go untarp the vert, put on a mask, and start scrubbing on some sheet metal...

things have got to the point of outright insanity here.

gonna lock the place down, hit the bank, and got to town for supplies. (I'm not robbing the bank)

then I think Ima go over and make dinner at mr vw's house.

I need some away time to think...

I was incorrect...

things have now reached full on insane.

the 3 cops just left. for now.

they came and got me so I could drive smoky's car home...

I'm gonna make him a dummy key.

his license will be suspended pending a review, but he wants his keys. now.

I am fighting a losing battle while wearing handcuffs...(not literally yet, but I did get to ride in the back of a police interceptor again. not much room back behind the plexi-shield.)

but this should help me in my other silly court case.

and I've hidden his cane. no more goose eggs for me...

locking the place down, and heading for a less crazy environment till after dark.

it's a good thing mr vw lets me live there as I please...

Sounds like smoky can't really live at home. A family member needs to tell him the god's honest truth.

had a long meeting with smoky's home health team.

I've been asking for it for a week now...

he's lost 14 pounds, and is mostly fuzzy and not right now.

he eats honey buns and drinks coffee. smokes 2 packs a day or more...

and has not bathed since I made him last time...

I am officially NOT IN CHARGE now.

and we will see what comes about.

minimum change is a professional home care person 3 times a week ($75/wk).

and someone to coordinate my efforts so I am not hung out in liability land with my neck on the block...

I still think he should go to a home. as bad as that sounds. but will continue to try and let him stay here.

but somebody else has to be the boss/bad guy.
