@msolga,
On a more cheerful note, Rocky, how are those frisky little baby goats of yours today?

@msolga,
they are a little less fearful every time I feed them.

and they are part mountain goat. I went in the chicken house to find them, and all 3 were atop of something tall. a barrel, a hen box and the feed box...

and they are getting more aggressive. the two big sisters against lil bit...

I gave her a separate food dish so she gets to eat.

not that any of them looks malnourished. all they do is eat and poop...

They are going to be a handful when they get bigger!

I feel slightly dangerous today as I head out to do some errands that can be done while slightly wonky.

I'm in my grey hoodie (it's chilly after being 90 for a week) and I'm heavily armed...

I have a bag of trail mix and an iced tea.

I hope I don't run into dave or bill while I'm out and around...

I suck and I know it. Do you know that all three boys are in All Stars?

I am proud. But I am a friggin' lunatic these days. 14 more days of school. 2 months of baseball. AND I might be keeping an itty bitty baby 3 days a week. Not too sure about that now that I am WAY past the baby stage.

But I do peek in to see how you are doing. Sorry I have left you high and dry.

@mismi,
I know the feeling.

I'd still be behind right now if there was 2 of me.

I wake up and find the most immediate problem and focus on it first...

the baseball thing won't get better until our guys start playing like themselves.

Moose is our most consistent hitter right now.

how sad is that...

@Rockhead,
another thing that goats teach us is never to place anything that allows them easy egress, close to any fence line. They will jump from the roof and over the fence.
They are adapted to mountain terrains after all, their generic name includes the root capri which is the root of capriole which is"To jump from a standing position". Goats and deers are good at that. They call it gamboling or spronging (Afrikaaners)

@farmerman,
yup.

I been out there in their pen working. they are getting less fearful and more curious.

they learned real fast to get outta the way when I drop a big tree...

I made a big mess Ima hafta clean up tomorrow.

but I cleared the rest of the brush and volunteers from around the chicken yard.

now I can start resetting posts and making it ready for chicks.

the pasture is ready for the goats now, but I think I leave them where they are so they can keep cleaning up the yard for me. I opened the path they had made into the supplemental pen, so they can mow it all down before they move to the bigger pen. they are very efficient mowers...

I have found and reclaimed enough fencing that I won't have to purchase any. and I will have multiple pens for when I get to the breeding stage.

gonna build a leanto in the orchard for now so they will have shelter, and then start fencing toward the barn.

I still hafta move my mini salvage yard, I don't want them climbing all over my cars...

tard.

for all the parts of me that are feeling less than at the moment, at least my feet are no longer among them.

I went to the shoe circus and got me two pairs, one at half off.

got me some black high top chucks. (nods to missy) and a pair of work shoes. good leather ones I can wear to the arena and look like I have steel toes. but I don't. I hate steel toes.

I was welding in my sneakers the other night and dropped a dingleberry on my shoe. it burned through and settled between two toes to slowly sizzle out.

so I don't weld in anything but my work shoes now.

and my toes will stop hurting in a few more days...
