maybe the madness has stopped.

if so, I bow to the mod...

suspended the no eating late rule for tonight on a goat exception.

my slamon is about to come off the grill.

the trailer is structurally all done, I gotta add the fencing to it. prolly in the morning (about 1pm). gonna work on the lights yet tonight. I gotta replace one, and rewire it. and screw down the new floor plywood...

my little multi-purposeful goat trailer is gonna get some looks running down the turnpike...

@Rockhead,
do you have one of those gas boiler type hot water heaters?

@farmerman,
I don't have a water heater.

I heat it on the hot plate, and dump it in my 5 gallon kettle to wash with...

we're still kinda primitive in the cabin.

@Rockhead,
You should look into solar water heaters or solar heaters in general. There are several sites on the net that give step by step instructions on How To build them.
I'm going to try and build both this year. I want to build a shed and heat it with used beer cans. If you're interested, I'll get some links for you.

@Ceili,
I gotta get running water first.

too many big projects that don't pay anything but progress.

when I get the vert done, things will ease a little bit financially and I can do more chores and less commerce.

mr vw just called me. we had big storms in the middle of the night. he lost another giant limb. this time it didn't crush any cars, but it hurt some of his garden pretty bad. and a fence.

He asked me to bring my saw and go help.

prolly gonna put my goats off for one more day and go rescue him.

after I go check my place over real good.

I'm starting verra slowly today.

brrrrrrrr...

ok.

no damage here. but all o' my trees are trimmed up.

I have told him for 3 years he needs to take that giant dying tree out. same one does all the damage. A giant elm.

it has hit his house, his truck, and his other fence already. If I hadna asked him to move a vw bus (a customer vehicle) so I could get around his circle drive with my trailer, it woulda been smushed, too...

having some noodles to get me started.

Now when somebody asks me if I have kids, I can say yes.

I have 3. a black one, a tan one and a white one....

they are verra cute, and quite skittish, but we will grow to be friends. gotta go get a little sweet feed to help hurry things along.

I'm tard as hell, but glad I worked so hard to get them here.

my trailer rocks, and I may be going right back tomorrow. he said his neighbor wants to get rid of a donkey, and if I can get it for free, I'll be damned if I don't go get him...

got my babies in the chicken pen for now, gonna work on the fencing in the orchard next and try to get them moved outta the chicken yard before I need it for baby chickens.

I feel very much the rancher now.

I wish Bob was here to see how things are working out. he would be very happy for me, I think...

off to make dinner.

@msolga,
farmerman has me spooked.

they were verra noisy at first when I put them in the chicken pen.'

after dinner, I went out to check on them and they were gone...

I called and whistled and made goat noises (I make very good goat noises, thankyouverymuch) but nothing.

so I got a ladder and a bucket, and gingerly scaled the fence (I have to build a gate yet) with my flashlight to see if they had escaped silently and tried to travel the 65 miles back from whence they came.

they were huddled in the corner of the hen house, bedded down for the night.

I hope they are not morning people. this could be hard on my sleeping habits...

and thank you.

@msolga,
no.

I picked them up (it was fun catching them, and the white one escaped the trailer while we were trying to load the tan one.) and rushed home to beat the sunset. still no taillights... Rolling Eyes

then I had to secure the chicken pen in the dark.

tomorrow we will spend some QT together, and I will decide on names...

@msolga,
gram is gonna come out on Thursday and visit. she's not been out to the ranch yet. it's a bit more primitive than she is used to seeing folks live, and it's a long round trip.

but the place is shaping up, and she really wants to see the goats. she asked me to stop by her place as I came back with them, but I was racing the sun as it was...

she may name them for me. she and smoky are both almost as excited about them as me...

Well you know you can count on us should you need any help with that! Not the QT, the naming.

They sound very lively & risky!
This is gonna be fun! Very Happy

You sound pooped, Rocky.

@Rockhead,
What more could you ask for, Rocky?
Three frolicking baby goats & feeling really good, too.
That's what I'd call progress! Smile

Night night & happy dreams.

p.s. .... I didn't mean to say
"They sound very lively & risky!"
Absolutely not!
Someone stole the "f'.
