@jespah,
I just misposted and deleted this from the batman tread (which I looooove):

Checked my profile -
aha, "User has not yet added friends."

I misread it before. I have two followers, not people I'm following. Duh, again.

Now to read what Jes just said.

Yes it does.

It shows you following an apple and you being followed by a couple dogs, some fruit, a cigar, and a spooky-faced cdk

WHAT???
Why can't I see it?

George,

Scroll Down from "mostly harmless" to the sections labeled "following" and "followers".

@Region Philbis,
Next step for George: add Region Philbis to your "following" list so that you have someone to tag along with whenever you get confused.

I was hoping there'd be a way to unhook the option.

Ah-HA!

I was looking under "My Profile". No "following" stuff there.
Then I clicked on my username at a post. Bingo!

Now I can focus on some of my other neuroses.

@ossobuco,
I noticed that, too, osso. So it's a friendly thing and not a stalker situation

There aren't any plans for it now. Anyway, if someone wants to follow one person around they can already do so just fine without this feature, as your profile lists all your posts, topics etc.

Well, this should be fun. Since followed and followers are signified by avatars I'll never know what's going on if I'm using my home computer -- avatars do not show up.

@Tai Chi,
It'd be great to see who was the most followed person. It would lend some insight into who I should be paying attention to. I'll have to go flag all my favorite posters.

@Tai Chi,
I think if you hover the mouse over the avatar, the person's name pops up. (That is, when I hovered the mouse over the avatar, that's what happened, but I can see the avatars and so not sure if this other part will work for you.)

@Letty,
Letty, I'm immediately less wary if it's a friendly thing. Says she who is still wary about facebook - not re stalkers, exactly, more worried that I can set the security right (people who hate the front yard I designed twenty years ago ... as I might too by now) - but still may join.

Well, Robert wouldn't set up a stalker situation, we know that.
Still, the whole friending thing is like a rubber eraser to me. Even life long friends have grating points, and one can agree with people one is generally antagonistic to. There is an ick factor there for me, in the categorizing - while I appreciate being able to shut people out, especially the troll like. I suppose I am still being at the pre-newbie stage. This move by a2k may help me get used to it.
We'll see.
