@ehBeth,
Naturally it's sad but I'm sure your mother would have urged you and Mr. Hamburger to put a brave face on and move on to do good - maybe great! - things. You and others here have certainly contributed a lot to protection of animals and the environment in general.

@High Seas,
I'm in agreement with that, Hoft --- ehBeth has been and is the bedrock of this thread.

@danon5,
Me too, Hoft and dan. Thanks god for Beth! Smile

This mom is smilin a grin big as the tree pic you posted, H. My Donna completed her final exam today and is now a certified Gemologist! We chatted for about an hour (she's on her way to L.A from Carlsbad to visit friends before her return trip) and laughed, danced...just elated! Tonight she celebrates w/Tyler and Eddie n' families in Los Angeles, then tomorrow...home.

I guess the biggest acheivement of my life was being a mom to two of the nicest and smartest people on the planet. Course, i'm biased! Shocked Very Happy

Moms are like that...it's a gene we have. Smile

@Stradee,
I hear that, Stradee - way to go. It takes parenting to raise kids right.

You all (Ya'll) remember my Mom passed away a few years ago - I've been taking care of the old homestead ever since. The other day I was going through the house to regulate the heat and - at my age I start remembering things from my youth. I was at a point in the central hallway of the house when I really felt like I was young and at the point where at the very same spot years and years ago I was dancing up and down yelling, "I'm a teenager now!!" That part actually happened but now I'm thinking my Mom was saying to my Dad, "Where's the duct tape?"

@High Seas,
There was just a bit of sad mixed into the happy memories, T.

Last night, my friend BrendaLee and I went to a concert. Toronto Consort, Praetorius to Bach, Darkness into Light. It was a musical palindrome of a concert. Wonderful in many ways.

Before the concert, BrendaLee and I went for a meal and a visit to the nearest bookstore. It's our time.

After I parked the car to go and meet BrendaLee, I walked to the passenger side to reach in and grab my bag. There, in plain view, was $40. Weird. I don't leave money just plopped out in my car - almost a guarantee a car will get broken into if you're parked downtown. I decided it was a message from mrs. hamburger that she was treating me and BrendaLee to our meal - told BrendaLee - she agreed. The hamburgers always got a real kick out of BrendaLee and her misadventures.

We enjoyed our meal at Thai Basil (amazing soup!), our visit to the bookstore, the concert, and had a good hug before we both headed home.

Definitely good memories.

@danon5,
Reading your account, smiling. My son was a virgo, and dan, you were more than likely a joy to both your mom and dad. Recall my Dan running inside my room yelling that he needed deodorant for the first time. Of all things.... and all i could do was sit there trying not to laugh. He grew up to be a super adult, and also earned all his certificates. His speciality was vehicle paint...fancy stuff...was well respected, and as he liked saying "Mom, i'm just a guy". Yep, a good one...and clean. Very Happy

Beth, smiling also recounting memories after mom passed, and even today her influence and spirit are so present. Can't tell you how many times i'd pour coffee, then forget where the heck i'd placed the cup. Saying..."Mom, where's my coffee"?...she replied "Right here, or you left it..." and I find myself asking mom the same question today with a smile. Beth, I swear, the words arn't out of my mouth when the cup magically appears. Moms are the best. Smile

To all the wildclickers, have a marvelous evening, and Iz....please rest, hon.

T, again, always good hearing from you.

I am amazed at Sandra Bullock --- Received the Razzy for Worst Actress only weeks ago and now the Oscar for Best Actress !!!!

She also designed and had made seat belts for her puppies.

@danon5,
LOL

Yep, Oscars were sooooooooo good! Wasn't surprised Sandra Bullock finally took home the honors...she was due, and her movie? Excellent

How bout Best Pic and Director? Hurray!

For the first time I sat and watched the entire show and the LOL antics of hosts.

And the dresses? omg, so beautifully simple and elegant.
