I came across a monograph of Edouard Boubat at an estate sale today and I was surprised that I was unfamiliar with his name and his work since I'm fairly knowledgable on the topic of photography and photographers.

I thought I'd share my "discovery" with you!

Isn't that a great photo!

The book I found has more than 300 prints in it. It's a blast to look through.

@tsarstepan,
Yay!

When you get it tell me what you think is happening in the photo on page 139 -- very mysterious.

@boomerang,
They seem familiar but I don't remember the name. I like all of those shown.

Off to explore..

@ossobuco,
So now it's on my wish list for used books. I've very possessive about photography books, I'd likely not be able to turn one I liked back to the library.
Then I'd be a thief, with consequent troubles.

Notebooks, Edouard Boubat.

Can anyone elucidate the meaning out of this simple and enigmatic Zen like saying? Is this an aphorism?

@msolga,
Edouard obviously had a thing about animals. I really like how he uses them in his photographs.

@tsarstepan,
All in all a great book of photography. I didn't care for the photograms at the end of the book.

The Homage to Lewis Carroll shows the photographer's sense of humor.

@tsarstepan,
Here is my favorite self portrait of the photographer. He's with his wife Sophie in Paris, France in 1954.

Yes. Lovely.
I wonder if that's the same woman in both photographs?
I really like how he's included the second person in both his self portraits.
