My two favorite Daniel Day-Lewis films happen to be The Last of the Mohicans and There Will Be Blood.
But my favorite actor... I have a tie between Paul Giametti , Sideways and American Splendor...
and Clive Owens, Children of Men and Gosford Park...

As a Brit who remembers Clive Owen from the "Chancer" TV series in the 1980s, I know how to spell his surname, which has no final 's'. Anyhow, the best male actor is Ricardo Darín.

If dead actors count, it's Henry Fonda.

Daniel Day Lewis is probably the best living actor (can hardly wait to see his performance in a musical, "Nine," coming up next month where he portrays the Fellini-like director in the Broadway adaptation of the film "8-1/2.")
Spacey is my favorite even with his accepting roles in second rate movies just once too often. I just can't get the image of his leaving the detective's office in "The Usual Suspects" and converting to Keyser Soze, nor his profound death scene in "LA Confidential," when he realizes he's been had.

Did you hear when Daniel Day Lewis played a cabbage? He spent weeks prior to rehearsal living/lying down in a cabbage patch field! I think its a true story because I just said it out loud. And I wouldn't lie to myself would I??
Phhbbbttttt !!! A cabbage....could there be anything easier ? Remember the Pink Panther where the local is trying to cross the street in the middle of the night but the traffic is too heavy ? And he returns to get a chair and sit and wait for the traffic to ease ? I was that chair. Being a method actor it was rather easy for me.
(wait for applause....bow....exit stage left)

I've liked a few male actors in my day -
Toshiro Mifune and some other japanese actors I don't remember the names of
Steve McQueen
Giancarlo Giannini
Nino Manfredi
Philipe Noiret
Tom Conti
Yves Montand
Gerard Gepardieu
Steve Martin
Dirk Bogard
They're rather different, and I just got started on actors I appreciate.
If you mean I picked all males, I'm very aware female actors are now called actors (and that they always were actors). I took the question as re males.
