Jackie at 9 singing O Mio Babbino Caro

Compare her to the pros like Maria Callas and Sarah Brightman for the same aria

@talk72000,
Not at the level of Jackie, but still pretty impressive.

@cicerone imposter,
She does this song better than Jackie. See the one she did with the German show where Sarah Connor bowed to her. She is also younger than Jackie by a year. Connie will be 10 in November, I gather from the various Youtube postings. However, Jackie seems more suited to classical but can do pop just as well. These two are just incredible. I hope they turn out well and are treated well to adjust to adult life with proper childhood and enough education to adjust to life.

@cicerone imposter,
That was two years ago. She is younger than Jackie by 6 months. She has a stronger vibrato than Jackie but she can also sing opera which she did with Sarah Connor singing 'Ave Maria'. Both are phenomenal so it is hard to tell who will become better as they grow older but they will certainly knock off everybody in the present generation in ten years' time. Of course, there has to be the good future song writers and musicians. If there aren't any future talented composers we might be stuck with these great singers singing only stale songs.

@talk72000,
Good song composers like good singers come along with each generation.

@cicerone imposter,
I hope so but these two girls are exceptional. I hope the composers and songwriters that do come can match the girls' talents.

A Whitney Houston and Connie Talbot mix singing I will Always Love You.

I think Connie does it better. Just imagine an 8-year-old outdoing a top professional singer!

Connie Talbot singing I Have A Dream

Lyrics:
I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream...

Watched Gettysburg the last two nights before hitting the zzz's. The VHS was still wrapped with cellophane, so it means I bought this at least over ten years ago.

What made this movie more meaningful was the simple fact that my wife and I visited Gettysburg last year in November, and did the bus tour with an excellent docent who showed us where the battles were, and other sites like cemetery hill, downtown, and spending some time on little flat top.

All the names rang a bell from what the docent told us, and about Pickett's charge, but I also thought Martin Sheen did an excellent job as General Lee.

With two cassettes, it ran over four hours.

@cicerone imposter,
You know Jackie Evancho didn't win. But I think it is a blessing in disguise as it prepares her for failure and toughens her. She had won it it would have gic=ven her a diva complex and get her into trouble as she grows up. It teaches her humility. She could go the way of Connie Talbot, produce records and hone her skills. She should see the world as she gets invited to perorm concerts and not miss her childhood.

I agree; most children are unable to enjoy their childhood when they are gifted.

@cicerone imposter,
I think it is probably the mom in many cases for girls and dads for boys. e.g. Elizabeth Taylor, Lindsay Lohan (their mothers), and Michaael Jackson (his dad).

@talk72000,
I watched the segment on West Side Story; a movie I saw in the late fifties or early sixties. That was about five lifetimes ago.
