Virtus is usually translated as manhood or valor or goodness, rather than strength. Strength would be
potentia or
potestas. Honor can be translated as honor or dignity or even grace.
I believe that by the 2d century A.D. the letter 'u' had crept into common useage. Before the 'u' was used, 'v' stood for both the V and U sounds. (Thus virtus would be virtvs. Btw, there was also no 'j'. Julius Caesar's name was actually given as Gaivs Ivlivs Caesar.)
