I knew about the applause sign.
I went to see Johnny Carson in the late 1950s or early 60s.
Ed McMahon came out early and warmed up the audience,
in terms of competitive applause, but thay did not poke us.
I remember Jack Parr was on tv when I was playing Robin Hood in my 6th grade class and that was in 1962. My Da was coaching me with my lines and he was reading my lines and watching Jack Parr and he was adding lines from Jack Parr. "Maid Marian, I kid you not"
we laughed . One of the few good memories I have of my dad when I was in Catholic School.

I like his statement tonight, tho
he was unclear qua whether the conduct in question
preceded his marriage. He accepted responsibility
for straightening things out with his wife.
I agree with him that u cant let criminals push u around.
U need to push back. I am glad that he did.
In addition to being stupid, it 'd have been very cowardly
of him to actually pay off the blackmailer.
