This morning, my wife and I had a nice little trip to a local car show that I wasn't even aware of. Apparently, this is the 3rd year. Anyways, had fun looking at all the cars, in particular the older ones. Some folks fix them up real nice.

In a separate post, I will put up one of my favourite local talent that was on stage.

At the car show, several groups performed. One of my favourites is a very talented local girl, 14 year old Victoria Duffield. She sings pop songs and dances. I think she's got a bright future for herself with a great career.

Victoria is the girl in the pink pants. The other 3 girls sometimes act as back-up dancers for her.

@Reyn,
Outstanding! We had a few of those cars way back when. My brother had a Studebaker Hawk and I had forgotten how good they looked.

Thanks, Reyn

You know what's sad about this type of event? Knowing that there will never be classic car shows for pretty much any car made after 1975. You will not have fixed up/restored Honda Accords in 2050. The cars of today have lost their soul and their staying power.

It's unfortunate.

@Intrepid,
my most favorite car at that time was the '57 Studebaker golden hawk, in high school I had a '48 Packard convertible. When I came home from the military I bought a "56 Mercury Montclair which I traded in on a "65 Chrysler 300 convertible when I first graduated from college.

@Reyn,
Reminds me of car parades up in Humboldt County, quite a pleasure. I have a photo of 5 t-birds (55?) at a wayside stop in the forest - I might have posted it and back then I'd have remembered the name of the diner.

Can you identify this one, Reyn or others? It's familiar but more posh than our car for a short time in the forties.

You're welcome! I had fun with the cars and the music. Very Happy

My dad had a couple of the cars I took pictures of - the dark blue pickup truck and the light blue and white chev sedan. I feel very nostalgic about it.

Thanks, Edgar! Glad you liked it. Did you recognize any cars that you or your family owned?

Yes, unfortunately, you are probably right. Things have changed a lot, although, perhaps the younger generation may feel differently about this? Who knows?

My dad had a lot of vehicles, too! He was really into it.

Not really, osso. I didn't pay too much attention to the tags. I bet dys could identify them all though!

@maporsche,
Oh I HOPE NOT MaP - we have ...well, my friend has a 23-23yr old Merc convertible 300SL - she's a beaut and hoping to keep her going a long, long time if we can. We have many rallies here = the old cars drive thru the little roads in convoy and meet up at various spots along the way - beautiful and handsome cars.

Reyn - you pics are fab darlin' - well done - and thanks for sharing them.x

My wife and I are going out to another outing later tonight. Going to try my had at some evening photography. Not sure how the heck it will turn out. Laughing

We had some very much like 8 and 9 down.
Number 8, was when I was six and a bit younger, if you put those wood spoke wheels on it. Ours was a Dodge. Don't know what this one is.

When dys and diane were in Lippstadt with Walter, I was there also, and here's a couple of pictures from that "a2k event."

According to my mother, my first words were "new car Dad" and that would have been in 1944 or 45. I was born in late '41. Clearly a numbskull even then. I used to be the silent type.

How we would have gotten a car is another puzzle. My father was a commanding officer and conceivably had a work related need - or? Whatever his faults, he wasn't the bribe type, and there's nobody left to ask about this. I should check out the beginning of post war manufacture..

It is a Plymouth from the early forties. Possibly '40 or '41.
