Hi Reyn.

I'm back working in retail. If I get full shifts the hours are either 8am-5pm, 9am-6pm, 10am-7pm, or 12noon-9pm. Thanks to the economy, I'm noticing shortened shifts over the next couple of weeks -- one week I don't even get 20 hours in total. Hopefully things will pick up before Christmas.

At the office: A bit before 2:00 PM to about 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
But I'm monitoring the news -now and then- from about 6:00 AM till midnight.
Newspaper editing.

(When news are special, I'll come to work on week-ends or finish late: but that's not too often)

Free mornings are great.
And leaving the office at 10:00 PM prevents you from some useless TV watching.

Thanks again to recent posters.

TC, you have my sympathy. I know that routine all too well. Mad

For most of my life, I had (to me) the ideal work schedule, which was:
Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, including an unpaid half hour lunch, making it a 7.5 hour work day.

These days, while looking for post-retirement work, I dream of finding similar hours, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

By the way, is there any one here who is in the same boat as me (Edgar I know about) who has retired and is looking to get back in the workforce, either part or full time?

If I ever get the means together to retire, you won't see me in any kind of
workplace ever again. Not no way. Not no how.

@George,
heh -- just make sure you don't retire in December, George. My brother in rural VT had it all planned out (he made the same statement you did). His plans didn't include getting out of New England for the winter. He retired on Dec 15th. He was looking for part time work by February.

@JPB,
My retirement plan -- die at my desk.

My retail hours are Mon. thru Sat either opening at 9:30 AM to 5 or 6 Pm or closing shift 1 or 2 PM until 10 or 11 PM. I usually get stuck with Sunday which is 10:30AM to 8 PM.

The art career is every other free moment and day off between these hours.

I'll have to agree with George about the retirement plan. I just hope it's my art desk and not the one at work.
