@msolga,
aaawww, heartbreaking isn't it? I will never understand why people get puppies and then abandon them.

I was assuming, from the photograph, that the pup had been abandoned, Jane. Though, I don't know for sure. But yes, abandoned animals break my heart, too. Sometimes people stink! Evil or Very Mad

How is that outrageously naughty, extremely fetching, little ball of fluff of yours going? Any new tales to tell? Smile

@msolga,
Always MsOlga!! To get Lilly housebroken once and for all, we hang a little bell next to the entrance door in the hopes that she'll ring it when she needs to go out. Every time we go out for a walk , we ring the bell while Lilly gives us this look where she tilts her head in disbelief and has this giant question mark hovering over her head. I was ready to give up when the other day we heard a faint noise from the bell. Yes, she indeed had rang the bell and was standing by the door.
Needless to say, I was totally excited and praised Lilly profusely and immediately went out with her. She hasn't rang since, but it did give us hope that she'll got the bigger picture here.

You see what my life is reduced to: getting all excited by a ringing bell! Laughing

Here is Lilly with her Valentine's....

Ah, but she's training you, Jane! Wink

You mustn't let this willful, small fluffy creature rule your household! First rule of puppy training! Laughing

But I have to admit, she is very beautiful. What a stroke of luck to have found her!

@CalamityJane,
I had a set of indian bells by the back door, and pacco used those to get my attention.. except if he was in the room with me and then he'd nose my knee. Very sweet, and helpful.

MsOlga, I am glad to that we found her at the animal shelter. I also tell everyone where we got her and so far two of my neighbors went down to the shelter and picked up dogs. They euthanize at the local shelters, so I am especially thrilled
that more dogs found homes from there.

osso, that's where I got the bell, from an Indian/Thai place, but I think that
your Paco was a lot smarter than our little one here.

@CalamityJane,
He was pretty smart. Those eyes were very knowing..

On the other hand, I got him when he was older, who knows how old, at least six - so the training job wasn't difficult. On the bells, no training at all, he knew where the door was, went to it, nosed the bells.

I'm remembering how funny he was when I was leaving - he almost always went with me, and this involved my picking up his leash. He'd grab it in his teeth (good that it was strong leather) and jerk it around to get me to go in the direction of the front door. I forget now if I'd already attached it to his halter or if this happened as I was trying to do that. I think it was already attached. If I remembered that I'd forgotten something and let the leash go, he dance around with it, sort of snorting. Hilarious. He loved to go out.. he loved to come home.

I'm glad you did, too, Jane. (Ditto for just about every cat I've lived with for years & years).
You've become an ambassador for shelter animal adoptions.
Good work! Very Happy

Bodhi experienced his first good snowfall a week ago here in Dallas. As much as he hates rain and water he absolutely loved the snow.

He was bouncing around and digging through the snow with his nose.

I am also happy to report that Sweetie, the abandoned pit bull my parents found has plumped her way not only to her approved weight but even a little past it. There is still the issue of her heart worms but my parents are doing what they can to afford the treatment. It's going to be about $700.
