@ossobuco,
Yeah, definitely, it's a badge of honour and a signifier of inner calmness to me. Also makes mortality wisftully obvious.

This is a bad idea, do not teach your dog this unless you want to be woken up at 2am by 'band practice'

@littlek,
Not me, with our Kelly.
I can be brought to mush from some of our own pictures.
Well, what am I saying, as by now I can be brought near mushy from photos of Kelly in his prime (they're mostly all on slides, or you'd be seeing them).

I already said I (relate) to Ceili's dogs.

Generally talking, I mush up with gray dog muzzles, at the same time that I know that they are like humans, just older sons of bitches.

@ossobuco,
there is something to be said for the grey muzzle, especially with black labs

@djjd62,
Well, thank-ye very much. They're all kinda driving me crazy at the moment. The big one, Murph, ate the trim at the bottom of the picture window in the picture above. Now I have to find matching trim - which could be hard, as I rescued it while renovating and it was made in the 1950's. We are all sick of being stuck inside. Because they're meant for warmer climes and it has been too darn cold to go outside below -20 for so long, and they shake when you blow on them - very little fur, I'm desperately seeking spring. It looks as if it's still a ways a way... March 26 or so I'm told. I'm checking out an indoor playground for dogs tomorrow. I can't take it anymore...

Send that dog over to Jack White, HH. Smile I here he needs a drummer now that Meg White isn't working with him after the White Stripes officially broke up.

The cold weather we had in February brought us some much anticipated snow. Bodhi loves the snow.

I love Bodhi's face, it's so puppy like...

OMG Ceili, I'd get steer crazy too with three huge pups who chew up the wood; they're worse than termites Very Happy

Derby the dobie, Pacco's friend, died last week. I just found out.

Rest in peace, Derby.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/ossobuco/DerbythedobieandPaccothecorgi087.jpg?t=1300225845

They used to run the beach together, at King Salmon, play and sleep at work, and sometimes go together to doggy day care, where the Derb would protect the Pacc.

They had a pal, Parker the cocker spaniel, a deaf fellow my business partner found surrounded by cars outside a grocery store, in.. the parking lot. She searched hard to find the owner, and meantime gave the dog a severely needed beauty bath; he became part of the crew.

@ossobuco,
Awww, I love seeing photos of Pacco, and his buddy is handsome too.

My neighbour has a grand-dog that is going deaf and blind (well, we've been here 11 years and he wasn't a puppy when we moved in), a border collie that I've watched from my kitchen window with great affection over the years. This winter he came to stay while her son went somewhere warm. I could see her in the front yard digging a great hole in the snow and piling it up in a ring like she was building a huge snow fort or the foundation for an igloo. Turns out she just wanted a snow-fenced-in area for him to play so he'd be safe and not wander on to the road now that he doesn't see so well.

@Tai Chi,
It's Derby that I talked here a long time ago about getting in the truck with when business partner and I met at the horse barn and then drove off to see some client. This was early one morning, dimmish light. I'm a night blind and peripheral vision trimmed person.
I hopped in her truck and took out my book while she finished the stall cleaning, et al, with her horse. I heard a noise in the truck. Derby must have moved his neck fast enough to make his tags make noise. There he was, pretty rigid, in the driver's seat, looking straight ahead, awaiting her.

This is hard to understand unless you have peripheral vision problems, but true.
Piquant memory. Wonderful dog.

@ossobuco,
Nothing makes you feel quite so invisible and ignored as a dog that isn't yours waiting for someone who isn't you.

Heartbreaking!!! Look at this video from Japan. The dog doesn't want to leave his injured buddy... (it's reported that both were rescued and are fine).

@CalamityJane,
That's a tearjerker of a newclip CJ. Wish I could take in and take care of both dogs.
