The Democratic field of contenders for the 2004 election is very splintered at moment. For the success of the party in the 2004 election period, which is the better altnernative:

1) Getting to know one or two candidates well, or]
2) Letting the field go wild, and then parlaying the remainders, and
thisir requirements, into blocks of votors to be bartered?

I don't think the field is uniquely large or fractured right now. This tends to happen whenever a party faces an incumbent. This may last a while, but as soon as primary results start coming in, the field thins--quickly!
