In regards to the post question:
Some leaders influence me personally, but may not influence others to the same degree. Someone can also be a 'leader' to me, but not to others. For example, President Obama is a leader as voted by Americans, but not everyone voted for him, so likely there are many people who do not see him as one that fits their values and therefore may not be influenced by him.
