That being said, the only alternative, if there is one. Throw places he liked in a hat and pick one to rent for a trial before you sell and commit.
I'm was in a similar situation, but they refused any alternatives. So I left him. I'm still located where we were and miserable. But now its solely up to me where to go. And I gotta do it alone. My relationship was not as long as yours. I could not take his constant complaining and hurtful words and actions. He could have cared less how I felt.
** which is a good point for you to ask him? If he has Alzheimer disease, than its understandable that he is not considering your feelings. But if not, doesn't your happiness matter to him?
