and the fight will go on
well after they say its over
peace ways all gone
and we keep under cover

your children are fighters
born to be fodder
war machine fools inciters
machine guns stutter

the time is 2200
they havent learned a thing
about how they blundered
genocides still the king

On Halloween, freed in between
the living and departed
Old wandering souls
this night behold
earth's open gate unguarded

For just one night
skies and starlight-
no earth above them lies.
When morning breaks
they won't awake-
back in their bed of sighs.

Happy Halloween!

Terrific! Again, this is my only way of telling you the ball is in your court on my post. Thanks for the reply,
Bryan.

Bryan - when you post to a thread I've posted to, it notifies me on my e-mail (most of the time anyway), so you don't have to worry about going out of your way to do that. Just so you know....

All Souls Day

I love the name of this day
all souls, all free, in all ways.

Happy All Souls Day!

my friends are all dropping like flies
showered as the ddt machine sighs
i pull my robe close about me
huddled before flames with tea
the cup warm the liquid sweet
adjusting a blanket about my feet
marking the lives suddenly cold
the world smaller and decidedly old

Jack and Jill went up the hill.
So what's the big deal?
About going up a hill?
Big deal! Are they for real?

meanwhile

Little jack horner sat in the corner
eating some kind of pudding or pie
He put in his thumb
and pulled out a. A Gun
b. A Hun.
c. A plum
d. A pun.

Th-th-th-th-the that's all folks. I've got to run or have fun or get out of the sun or..............

I watched geese today
Fly over the house
Leaving winter behind
They sounded joyful
Unrestrained
They seemed so much higher
Than man could ever climb
I think maybe
I envied them
Because they're free
Content to be
Following the paths
Of their ancestors

i predict you will not find this poem and read it

same angst ridden song
to the tune of chuck barriss gong
i mourn the casualties of war
i worry i should have loved you more
i pause to pick up sticks
where others get in the hot licks
i sing a croakers song
all you rounders welcome to sing along

guns are love and kindness
war is not murder
the gentle love blindness

I like it in this room
Here you can just sit
And think about ****
Maybe chew things over
Like a fu*king bull in clover
No judgement, man
That's sound
Pass the teabag round

bad road taxing all my skill
slow down hydroplaning still
back road the only way i know
hopefully evading johnny law

i saw my lover in a jag
topless hair tied in a rag
set out to catch her if i can
i just want to take a peek at her man

ran out of time back later

Edgar, your bad road poem would be wonderful set to music. I've often thought many of your poems would make wonderful songs.

Have you ever considered it?

Many, including that one, are written with music in mind. That is the main reason there is repetition so often. I don't know how to write songs to offer professionally.

Have you ever considered learning the basics of music writing? For example:

I doubt that I will try to write music. However, I did make a decision to drop my lyrics on a site for songwriters to see what reaction they get.
