WASHINGTON " Although President Obama has vowed that citizens will be able to track "every dime" of the $787 billion stimulus bill, a government website dedicated to the spending won't have details on contracts and grants until October and may not be complete until next spring " halfway through the program, administration officials said.

Recovery.gov now lists programs being funded by the stimulus money, but provides no details on who received the grants and contracts. Agencies won't report that data until Oct. 10, according to Earl Devaney, chairman of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, which manages the website.

@Woiyo9,
It seems to me that if they didn't want to then they could have just never promised to do it, and then not done it, like every previous administration.

@FreeDuck,
Maybe this is the "change" Obama is talking about.

@Woiyo9,
I don't suppose you could take a "wait and see" and "change comes slowly" approach. I realize it's not as much fun, but perhaps you could try it.

@FreeDuck,
I prefer honesty.

Do not stand before me and say IT WILL BE TRANSPARENT then say, WELL, MAYBE NEXT YEAR IT WILL BE TRANSPARENT.

That is not change. That is the same political bullshit you have come to accept.

I do not accept dishonesty.

@Woiyo9,
While I'm more than willing to call the current administration on the carpet for wrongdoing, this doesn't fit the bill. You are unhappy because "it will be transparent" didn't mean "it will be instantaneously transparent". You don't like how long it's taking, fine, but you can't accuse them of lying because it's not happening fast enough for you.

@FreeDuck,
Sure I can. It is becoming a pattern.

A wise person once said, better to say nothing than make a promise you can not keep.

Maybe Obama and his staff should consider that.
