Patiodog, you really didn't like that movie? I was obviously joking about having a sad part...but that movie is great.

I dunno, I was really stoned the only time I watched in, stuck in this studio apartment in Chicago in the middle of a blizzard while the guy upstairs stomped around and yelled at his wife. And the music is... bad. So that may have colored it for me. And, you know, you watch it right after Godfather I and II, Dog Day Afternoon, and Serpico in Al Pacino-fest and it doesn't quite measure up.

I'm gonna at least have to have it playing on the big screen when Cribs comes around, I guess...

Hi cavfancier. I see you are a Chef. This thread or a new thread should include the favorite snacks we eat when we watch movies. I myself indulge in the traditional popcorn.

Hi colorbook, if it's at the theatre, I go for the disgusting natchos, a childhood thing. At home, good chips, a cold beer, and anything (if it's there) leftover from a catering the night before.

'The Bicycle Thief'. That was a gut-wrencher....

The restaurant scene in "The Bicycle Thief" followed up by the scene on the bridge got me where it hurts.

"Terms of Endearment"
"Ordinary People"
"One Potato, Two Potato"
"Make Way for Tomorrow"

The last is the story of an elderly couple (Victor Moore and Beulah Bondi) who are forced to move into separate homes when their children (two of whom were Thomas Mitchell and Fay Bainter) don't care enough to do what is necessary to keep them together.

In the Bedroom....not so much a weeper as an emotional brick to the head. I was completely numb at the end.

husker, I love Cronenberg, actually Dead Ringers was a weeper in a strange way, but I thought Crash was numb for all the wrong reasons. HATED IT! Two thumbs down.

Diane- Years and years ago, there was a show on TV called "Bride & Groom". Couples would get married on the show, and would collect some nice wedding gifts from the sponsors. In fact, my girlfriend's older sister was married on the show. I used to bawl my head off, even though I did not know the people!

"Mr. Skeffington" with Bette Davis and Claude Rains -- the end of that film is heart wrenching.

Some of the tear-jerker (for me) videos in my library include:

Stepmom
Turner & Hooch
Hook
Nell
Milo & Otis
Fried Green Tomatoes
Old Man & the Sea
Steel Magnolias
Patch Adams
Hook
Terms of Endearment
Philadelphia
The Mask
Forrest Gump
E.T.
Backdraft
Beaches
Lorenzo's Oil
Dead Poet's Society
Wit
Last Emperor

I could go on, I cry at the drop of a hat when the story is well portrayed. Smile
