I think they just recognize that horrid things have happened under the name of <pick just about any religion and insert it here>.

the westboro baptist church pickets the funerals of dead soldiers, anti-abortionists bomb clinics and shoot abortion doctors, they claim to be acting in the name of christianity
The members of that church are morons and they should be hunted down, but they
are nothing like the Muslim extremest waging Jihad against non-Muslims worldwide.
How many radical Christians are modern day pirates?
