maria has completed her college degree. she has been a caregiver at a children's day-care center for three years. she has enjoyed her job, but she feels it is time for a change.
if she wants to stay in her field and advance, she has to travel and go into management. she wants more time off to spend with her family, and become more involved in the community action groups. maria would like to stay in the related field. she still likes working with children, but she also enjoys giving presentations, workshops, and writing.
what suggestions would you give maria to help her with her career change decision-making process? what habits would you recommend to maria to help her with her career planning?
Maybe become an events co-ordinator for the YMCA or other organization that sponsors children's groups? Hospitals and churches usually keep a staff person to do this type of thing as well. As for what courses or further education would be helpful, I would think anything involving event co-ordination and business would be a help.
Not really sure as I don't much experience with this stuff myself, but there's my 2 cents.
@Aldistar,
The Y is a great idea - my daughter's kindergarten teacher did this - actually she is their registar as teaching was so much more work and dedication.
