@CalamityJane,
right now the eastern end of lake ontario between the northern shore line and wolfe island and amherst island is frozen and people can walk across the frozen lake .
exhibit 1 :
starting this friday and for the next several days there is a lot of rain expected - the ice cover will melt - what then ?
are people expected to walk on water ?
oh , i see - you suggest we might take the ferry to cross the lake ?
hmmm ... will have to be taken under consideration ... ..
exhibit 2 :
but is the ferry safe ? what if it sinks ? i'd rather walk ... ... it's also more GREEN - ferry uses diesel fuel
- should a sailship be considered to replace the ferry ? we have a nice sail training ship (the brigantine st. lawrence 2) sitting dockside - we could ask the sea cadets to take over the ferry service ...
exhibit 3 :
got to do even more thinking - what a busy day it will be - and i thought i'd retired to
hbg
ps. they have struck shoals only occasionally - and they do carry life preservers - coast guard cutter is also located in the harbour - do i take a chance ? ... decisions , decisions ... ...
