mr. glitterbag retired on March 31 so when I have early meetings at the Nonprofit we meet up for breakfast. Today I had heavenly Eggs Benedict, not good for the waistline, but what the hell. mr. glitterbag is taking a month or so off before returning to another job, so for the time being we are in the middle of mapping out the rest of our lives. And playing with our remaining dog.

In honor of The Netherlands play in the World Cup today I'm having a few friends over for a dutch baby brunch. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and mini dutch babies made in muffin tins. Add fresh coffee and a few bloody mary's ... Good times will follow.

Mr F made a bunch of omelettes that are simple and outstanding.

Fried some vidalia onions till clear

add some asparagus chunklets add wooped up eggs then some hunks of good fontina cheese (not that salty **** from the supermarket)

omelettize this under a covered lid pan and serve with buttered toast .
Thats it
Of course drizzle with tabasco (aint no omelette cant be made mo betta without no
tbaska soze. ))

Ooops, here it is nearly 3PM and I've forgotten about eating any breakfast at all. Maybe because it's Sunday & I'm too tired to even work up an appetite. All I've eaten is a few pieces of red licorice & some pistachios.

That's what I said when I saw the cherry jam. Then I bought it!

Seems as if it should be so simply to make. (Says she who only ever made jam twice).

a typical "weekend" breakfast today .
did some shopping at out local specialty stores yesterday :
- pumpkinseed bread and a lemon-raspberry loaf from 'pan chanco'
- montreal bagels from 'tara'
- cold-cuts and cheese from 'the golden roster'.

here is what was on the table by the sunny window this morning :
pumpkinseed bread , sweet butter , seville orange marmalade , apricot jam , homemade strawberry jam ;
cold cuts - headcheese , tongue sausage , schinkenspeck(airdried , smoked , thinly sliced lean ham)
http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/schinkenspeck.jpg
swiss cheese ,
plenty of coffee (for mrs h) and tea (for me) .
actually was not hungry again until lunchtime :wink: .

"....actually was not hungry again until lunchtime...."

Hamburger -- your Saturday breakfast sounded wonderful.

-- We ate the free breakfast at a hotel this morning. Their coffee was washed-out but they did offer decent-tasting sausage (!) and do-it-yourself malted waffles.

The dogs are lying at my feet wishing.... wishing.... I'd put on my rainclothes and take them to the beach. <sigh>

Hi Piffka! Set and I took the pups to the beach for the traditional New Year's Day walk here. It was great. Lotsa people, babies, dogs and smiles and happy new year's greetings.

~~~~~~
Welcome gwendolen. Good to meet you here. Were those homemade oliebollen by any chance?
(these are the donut treats I think of whenever I see Dutchy posting, as we call these raisin donuts Dutchies here)
