A cup of Earl Grey Vanilla tea while I was getting ready to go out to brunch.

A large REAL hot cocoa while I was waiting for my brunch companion (Longdog) to arrive.

Mushroom omelette with rye toast, a few icky home fries, and a very good fresh o.j. for brunch.

Bacon, scrambled eggs, red potatoes with carmelized onions, salsa, coffee, at a good little breakfast and lunch place in Corrales.

While waiting to be seated we looked around in the art gallery next door. Nifty crafts on display, check - but what I really was interested in was the floor.. as I plan to stain and seal my new old house's concrete slab...

Well, we all had lunch instead of breakfast at the Monument Cafe in Georgetown, TX today. Oddly, they stopped serving breakfast just before 11:00 AM on a Sunday. How weird is that?

It was good, but I wanted breakfast, and so did everyone else.

I have a feeling it was a bunch of libs that owned the joint doing a "screw the church crowd" thing. Thing was, none of us were religious - we were just enjoying a lazy Sunday morning.

This morning, I had to have some bloodwork done for which I needed to fast for at least 12 hours.

Before heading out, I packed myself a big bottle of water, some orange vitamin water, and a nice, hot insulated cup of Irish tea with milk. After they took my blood, I drank some of each, and then Taylor and I headed out to Mike's Diner for brunch.

I had a tasty Greek omelette with grits and a grilled English muffin, a side of bacon, and another cup of tea. If only they had better tea there, it would have been absolutely heavenly! As it was, it was quite excellent. Yum!

Bloodwork smudwork. I do that at least every three months - get pissed when they are backed up and I have to suck water for another hour. Try a Barium you know what, when you can't eat anything for three days except broth. You'll head straight for the nearest extra large double cheeseburger you can find.

I hope not to repeat that experience.

It was breakfast at the hamburger's today.

There was so much food, I'm not sure I even registered what all of it was.

Swiss cheese omelette with bacon on the side. A couple of kinds of hearty bread. Coffee and tea. A variety of cheeses and cold cuts. Some amazing homemade cherry jam, that seemed to have more than its fair share of brandy in it. Yum.

Oooh I hope you never have to repeat that experience too! Getting blood drawn after 12 hours of fasting is bad enough. A person shouldn't have to go through the barium thing!

This morning I made a tasty strata for breakfast with rosemary bread, sun dried tomatoes, and cream cheese. (I'm not sure if I've explained strata before... It is a custardy bready thing, sort of like a bread pudding but savory instead of sweet.) It was delicious!

Last night, I made a caramelized onion, red jalapeno, and pineapple dressing to go with some delicious grilled kebabs.

This morning, I piled that pineapple caramelized onion deliciousness on the last of the rosemary toast, topped it with a fried egg, and melted pepper jack over the whole thing. Yum!

My doctor has taken me off of all refined sugars, starches, especially gluten-containing ones, fruits, especially dried ones, dairy, all yeast-containing and/or fermented foods, especially cheese, vinegar, mushrooms, and alcohol.

I still had a tasty breakfast, though. Tons of sauteed spinach with garlic mixed up in an omelette filled with halved cherry tomatoes. No cheese or milk in sight. It was delicious, but I wanted some cheese and grits or taters with it...

I'm supposed to wean myself off the tea (both for the caffeine and for the possibility of yeast/mold contamination) so I stuck to green tea this morning. I'm going to stick to green from now on, for a while...

I'm glad that fresh tomatoes aren't sweet enough to count as fruits in this particular context. I can't wait to add corn and bananas back in.
