I hear the Australian Bulldog was a favourite to win, but escaped before judging could take place.

Hickory, the Irish deerhound, is da winner.

http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2011/02/15/deerhound-pi_20110215231322580_660_320.JPG

The group winners tonight were the smooth fox terrier, black cocker spaniel, and the Belgian water dog.

I thought the bearded collie was gorgeous. I once had a black cocker spaniel. And when I saw Hickory glide around the ring, I was hooked. I was torn, but I was happy with the winner. A gorgeous dog and a half

5 GUYS makes a great Leonburger.

It would break my heart to own an Irish deerhound or wolfhound. They only live about 7 or8 years top. You barely hve a chance to know em and then theyre gone.

@farmerman,
fm, I just googled Irish deerhounds to confirm the life expectancy. They say 9 to 11 years. Sad but true that some of the larger breeds don't live nearly as long as the smaller breeds.

Love dat leonburger. If I had a very large apartment--it still wouldn't be big enough.

@Roberta,
so they live about as long as a boxer, which , from the ones my aunt had, would have their last few years of life in discomfort.

Well 9 years is a little better.

@Region Philbis,
My neighbor has a leonburger. She is about the sweetest dog in the world. The kids can climb all over her. I don't think she would harm a fly and she just loves my little monster of a dog. She just lays there as my little doggie climbs all over her. Although she will "paw" him and has hurt him when she has done so - he is dumb enough to go for more.

I know, that's hardly any time at all.

My lulu (feline) lived 21 years. Still wasn't long enough.

Well, yes it was, considering her last year.
