EQUUS definitely needs to be there. Yep. EQUUS.

But really....
Needs to include
At least one Greek drama- How about Antigone?
The Crucible
Death of a Salesman
You Can't Take It With You

I don't know, but I definitely think Into the Woods should be there somewhere. I don't like any of the Shakespeare tradgedies very much, but As You Like It was great, and Measure for Measure is definitely in a class of its own. I haven't seen a lot of the classics, so I can't make a complete list.

Not trying to change the thread, but it seems unwieldy to pick 10 plays as some of the postings indicate. Playwrights narrows the field, but even historical periods would help.

Here, in different format, are my "ten best plays"

Sophocles - Oedipus, Antigone
Aristophanes - Lysistrata, The Birds
Shakespeare - Hamlet, King Lear
Goethe - Dr. Faustus
Moliere - Tartuffe
Checkhov - The Cherry Orchard
Pirandello - Six characters in Search of an Author
Beckett - Waiting for Godot
Brecht - Three Penny Opera, Mother Courage
Harold Pinter - The Homecoming, The Birthday Party
Sam Sheperd - Buried Child, True West

On another day, the list would probably change

I didn't notice Ninja Turtle Concert on anyone's list but mine. Am I the only one that could see the brilliance in the play, or am I the only one who has seen it?

I loved it. Urinetown is like no other musical I've ever seen - and very funny.
