Exactly like that. With that frame.

@Bella Dea,
I think it's fine, although it needs something with it. Unlike the Kandinsky that could stand alone. I would like this one near a Japanese style flora arrangement or some dark colored pottery. The frame works. Overall it works well with the wall color.

@Green Witch,
I have a burgandy vase on the table in front of where this will be.

@Bella Dea,
You want to echo the colors in the painting. I would do black or that deep green. You can try the burgundy and see how it looks to your eye, but I would think it will get lost against the wall color.

@Green Witch,
Well, it's not right against the wall....it's on the dining room table, in the middle of the floor.

@Bella Dea,
That would be fine then. Burgundy is not a clash color here. Something like this could go right near it :

@Bella Dea,
They are from a site that sells art pottery so they are big bucks ($600 ea), but you can probably find something for a lot less in a place like Home Goods or go to a quality craft fair. Bring a picture of the painting and wall color chip when you shop. You can even check out Ebay by typing in things like "new art pottery" or "original pottery vase", "modern black vase" etc.

Ok, so I am getting that big picture and to flank it, I want these.

All three are Gockel. The big one is Moved by the Music and the two small ones are Force of Nature. I love Gockel. Very Happy

@Bella Dea,
I think they are a good pick. Much more sophisticated than the mirror and earlier flower print. Enjoy.

You snuck in more as I was typing. I think either grouping works. You have to decide how much blue you want to bring into your color scheme. The second set works off the blue in the larger work, the first grouping makes it a non-issue.

@Bella Dea,
Of the two possibilities I like the second better -- warmer and more colorful, picking up that yellow instead of the more boring (IMO) tan.

@Green Witch,
I don't have any blue in anything in that room so maybe the blue in the second would be good just to add another accent color.

(By the way I'm looking for a mirror for my dining room, too, for all the reasons Osso listed. It's a dark room and the mirror would reflect the south windows/ light. I'd place it pretty high up so it wouldn't be about seeing yourself while eating. Might put some other art underneath it or under and above it. But I have this big blank space in a dark room and have been looking at interesting antique mirrors for that.)

Ok, so stupid me not paying attention to the size....

The long pictures are actually longer than the middle pic.
Does this still look ok?

They are about 4 inches longer, and half the width.

It feels unbalanced to me now.

I don't know. What do you think?

@sozobe,
Soz, you don't need an antique mirror, just the frame. You can put in your own mirror. I was searching for an interesting frame for a bathroom mirror. I found a beautiful 18th century frame with an awful 70's oil portrait of some goofy kid holding a kitten. I popped out the kid and kitten and put in a mirror. The frame was cheap because the flea market vendor thought they were selling the painting.

Bella, the balance is not good. What a shame. Not sure if there is anyway to rock it, but if I get an epiphany I will post it.

No problem about the help. I (obviously) have a lot of down time in the winter and this keeps me from getting into trouble.

Damn. I thought so. Now I have to go back to searching.

And they were so perfect. Arg. They don't make them in any smaller size that I can see.

Ok....some more ideas. Does that look off because of the blue?

@Bella Dea,
Something about it doesn't work for me and i don't think it's just the blue. The new paintings look cropped. The calligraphy flow that works in the longer works looks truncated here. Not terrible, but not the best.

Can you reverse the two small paintings - put the bottom one on top and top on bottom?
