...Because you just can't beat home improvement for the holidays. This is the exercise area. The photos are going counterclockwise. The reason you don't see the North is because that's the doorway to the rest of the house. It's two dressers with an arch between them.

Here are the before pictures:

East Wall: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/EastWallNookBefore.jpg
Northeast Corner: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/NorthEastCornerDetailNookBefore.jpg
Northwest Corner: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/NorthwestCornerNookBefore.jpg
West-Northwest Corner: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/NorthCornerDetailNookBefore.jpg
Mirror, West: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/NookMirrorBefore.jpg
Southwest Corner: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/IM003703.jpg
South, with view of the street: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/IM003704.jpg
South-Southeast: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r299/jespah301/SouthSouthEastCornerDetailNookBefor.jpg

Today I'm going to continue cleaning it out and throwing things away, plus moving things out and get it ready. Might do some wallpaper scraping today. Tomorrow or so we'll go to Home Depot and get some paint.

Oh cool, looks like we'll be doing some renovations together this winter. Have fun removing that wallpaper Shocked
I can't wait to see it when it's done and I bet it's gonna look fabulous :-D

What color are you guys going with, or are you still undecided?

@Montana,
I'm looking forward to this.

I like the way the exercise ball goes with the wallpaper!

@hamburger,
The wallpaper was here when we moved in, in 1995. The house was built in 1896 so it's not original but man oh Manischewitz! It's about 1/3 off. RP has done a fabulous job. And yes, the picture of Gollum stays!

Now -- who noticed the Courtroom Killer in red?

@jespah,
I knew that wallpaper looked familiar and it was driving me nuts last night because I couldn't remember where I saw it before, but then something Beth said triggered where it was.
It was in the kitchen in my old house when we moved in, which was over 30 years ago.

Wow, I can't believe that some of us have had the same wallpaper. How cool is that.

Now, take that ugly crap down and make that room pretty ;-)

one might check with their local historical preservation society before proceeding, just to rule out significant cultural value such that you were not allowed to renovate that particular portrait of the distant past.

(It IS Bahstin, no...)

It's very Aunt Bee.

The Courtroom Killers collage was prepared by RP's Mom when I was still practicing. It contains, erm, I think Leona Helmsley is in there, Linda Fairstein, Meade Esposito. Can't recall all the names.
