There are charities that heavily advertise asking you to donate your used car to them. Some of them give you something of value (e.g., a motel stay) in return plus a tax deducation (from the government).
What do the charities do with the cars? Who would want to buy them?
@Butrflynet,
We had a truck that was going to cost more for us to fix up and sell - not to mention - we are not very mechanical. The solution was to donate it. The charity we gave it to, repairs and cleans up old cars that have been donated. They are sold at a very low price to people who need cars to work. The profit goes back into the company to repair other cars donated. We got a nice tax break on it and got rid of the eye sore sitting in our driveway.
@mismi,
I used to donate time fixing on almost crap cars for a catholic charity that helped abused ladies and kids.
Helping other folks ain't all bad.
(and I'm not a cat licker)
