is this guy for real?
mining near our national parks?
endangered species no longer really protected from new industry by checking with scientists?
workers no longer protected from hazardcous materials?
is it as bad as it seems? i only read 5 of the last minute changes, its horrendous..
and they say "it will take a while to refverse these decisions"
why couldnt barack just change them abck when he gets into office?
doesnt seemr ight to be able to just say "voila!" and it is done instantly with a negative impact, and someone wishing for a positive outcome will have to wait?
ughhhh i swear obama better pull some **** out of his sleeves or the picture aint lookin so purdy anymore
Why worry?
Obama has an extensive resume and vast experience, he should be able to make everything better in just a few weeks...
I think the worst thing Bush is doing is converting political appointment jobs into civil service jobs, so that he can put into place people who will make it difficult for Obama to reverse the way Bush has run the agencies. Putting political hacks into civil service and thus making it very difficult for the incoming President to remove or replace them is an affront to democracy. This man, who claims to be a Christian, has no honor and no decency.
@OGIONIK,
The Congress has let Lil Georgie know that they will not stand for these rule changes, especially since theyve been timed to be "overturn proof". Congress has told Georgie that they will work to keep him from imposing them and thus his staff has said that the environmental reg changes are now dead.
Even his GOP friends arent gonna be targets from the fallout after Bush leaves office. They still have to be reelected.
@farmerman,
the one account that I read on this said that Clinton did the same thing re rule changes, but that he did it the last few days of his administration. By law Bush was allowed to come in and reverse most of this, as there is something like 30 days after a rule is given that it can be easily dropped. It is said that Bush thus did his rule changes early enough that Obama can not do the same thing. For Obama to reverse in bulk Congress will need to write new law to allow for it. Also, it will be very difficult for Congress to mitigate the effect of turning the appointment jobs into civil service jobs. That is a whole different kettle of fish.
Bush almost received a shoe sandwich today in Iraq. Considering what he did to Iraq and its people, it is the least that could have happened to him.
I wonder what in the hell is he doing there. He is the lamest of ducks and, at this time, he should be in the USA. We are in an economic crisis.
@hawkeye10,
Thats why most of these "regs" have not been promulgated. They got cold feet at the last minute.
Clintons, for the most part, tightened up regs, while the proposed Bush reg changes relaxed or removed regs dealing with HEalth and safety and the environment.
Bush will not be happy until he turns America into China. I'm not as confident as Farmerman that all these changes will be beaten down. Bush has been very busy giving away America's resources to the mining, timber, agra-biz and oil industries for years. Bush learned from Clinton's mistakes about timing and is now hurrying to cement in the deals. I think it will take years to undo these last minute paybacks, and in the meantime there will be more drugs allowed in our food and more mountain tops torn off in Virginia.
@Green Witch,
your avatar is super nice, meanie greenie
@Green Witch,
It sounds like you have confused Bush with Obama.
@OGIONIK,
I liked it better before I had to crop off my boobs and belly to fit into the space, but thanks.
