The Great Depression and the two World Wars were the greatest events of the Twentieth Century. The Stock Market crash was a result of greed. World War I was about Kaiser Wilhelm and his war plans, the demise of Austro-Hungarian and the Ottoman Empires, European political intrigue, alliances, fanaticism and inability to roll back a war plan once put into play on first impulse. World war II is about political groups install a 'useful idiot' in power in the person of Adolph Hitler. Hitler was a corporal yet was a magnetic speaker who successfully tapped into the anger of Germans over the Versailles Treaty. World War II was a true disaster.
In the Twenty First Century another 'useful idiot' in the person of George W. Bush was put into the White Houise and there is no need to elaborate on the disasters he presided over (more accurately caused).
Yes, it is the phenomenon of electing 'useful idiots' into the highest offices of the land that must be looked at carefully and how to avoid it is crucial for the continuance for democracies.
@talk72000,
Why are you ignoring the 300+ "useful idiots" in Congress who are more responsible for the mess this country is in than any President?
I believe that these criminals in Congress think of partisans like you as the "useful idiots" as you keep electing them back into office.
All politics is local and change has to start at the local level. How many of your local reps ran unopposed?
The real danger of Democracy is complacency of the voters. That is where we are today IMO.
@Woiyo9,
