Another national historic first lies in the Senate that has 13 of 24 seats held by women. Senate President Sylvia Larsen, D-Concord, said this was the first legislative body in the country to ever have a majority female membership. "This is quite a milestone, and we thought it was possible leading up to Election Day," Larsen said. Women for the past two years have made up 37 percent of the New Hampshire House.
