Bush did not get 10% of the black vote in 2000.
Gore got slightly over 90%, so the erroneous assumption started that Bush got the remaining 10%.
In fact, as I recall, Gore got slightly over 90%, Bush got 6% and Nader got 3%.
PS: Just checked engineer's CNN link. Although the exit polls CNN used did indeed indicate Bush got close to 10% of the African American vote in 2000, other polls at the time indicated otherwise.
