Have they called Indiana yet? Cause on the basis of these county-level data I'm punching into my spreadsheet I'm pretty sure Obama will win it.

Hasn't been called yet. Still waiting for more returns from Lake and Marion counties.

Definitely a mountain versus plains thing. In the farmlands east of Charlotte, Obama is doing well. In the mountains, McCain is doing as well as Bush or better.

Buncombe hasn't reported yet... all the hippies in Asheville might put a blue spot in the mountains.

Also, very notably, Cumberland / Fort Bragg has not reported. That one will be very interesting.

@nimh,
The most populous county from Indiana that is fully in now is St. Joseph, in the north (118,000 voters) - biggest city is South Bend. Narrowly went for Bush in 2004, by 2%. Now went for Obama by 17%!

Biggest swing in Indiana among the fully in counties so far: Dubois county (19,000 voters). In the South, towns called Jasper and Huntingburg. Wasnt Southern Indiana supposed to be hard for Obama, close to Kentucky and all? Well, Dubois county went for Bush by 38% -- GWB got 69% of the vote here. It still went for McCain too - but by just 4%, with McCain getting 51% of the vote.

@squinney,
Interesting. Obama is trailing in Indiana by about the same number of votes: around 6,000. We might not know how IN and NC end up until tomorrow.

@nimh,
Cool!

CNN's latest results for IN are 50% McCain 49% Obama with 90% reporting -- only a 20,000 difference in votes.

(This Will.I.Am hologram is weird. Kind of cool, kind of "is this really the BEST use of your money, CNN?")
