@nimh,
Yeah no, rural North Carolina is not budging.

Clay county, 5,000 voters, went for Bush by 32%, now for McCain by 35%
Macon county, 17,000 voters, went for Bush by 26%, now for McCain by 21%
Wilkes county, 29,000 voters, went for Bush by 42%, now for McCain by 38%.

CNN is showing Obama trouncing McCain in Pa, 62% to 37%. They're giving him 102 electoral votes to McCain's 34.

CNN shows McCain catching up to Obama in Florida, but still shows Obama ahead, 51% to 48%.

Gutsy call before Atlanta comes in.

MSNBC seems to be the only one calling GA already. Exit polls favored McCain, but only be a percent or so.

Is that in yet? On the website of the state board of elections the data is far from complete from there.

65K votes looks about right. I guess there isn't a check yet so I can't party yet.

But rural and small-town Indiana! Big swings toward Obama even in hardcore conservative country.

Tipton county (8,000 voters) went for Bush by 43%, but for McCain by just 15%. A 28% swing.

Wells county (13,000 voters) went for Bush by 49%, but for McCain by 31%. An 18% swing.

Statewide Obama needs a 21% swing, and he can probably rely on more than that in the large cities and the Northwest, with their large black populations.

CNN has just recalculated electoral votes, and is saying 174 Obama to 49 McCain.

@nimh,
Still in Indiana - Clinton county (12,000 voters) - went for Bush by 43%, for McCain by just 13%. A 30% swing.

If these huge swings in small town and rural Indiana are indicative of the small-town Midwest in general, Ohio should be an easy get for Obama.

If the lack of budge in rural North Carolina is indicative for the rural South in general ... well, lets wait awhile ;-)

@nimh,
CNN is showing Obama in Ohio 60% to 38%. I don't think you can take North Carolina as typical for the South in General.

Whoa! You got that right.

MSNBC has Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan for Obama - unsurprising, but hey, just two months ago all those states were still marginal!

But North Dakota for McCain ... pity, I was hoping for an upset there.

Kansas for McCain - congrats to Ticomaya ;-)
