I guess you all are not following "Brothers and Sisters." One of the brothers is gay and recently was married to his boyfriend, the uncle just came out of the closet and another brother tried to fix him up with a wacky date, but then he revealed he is seeing someone. It is the gayest show on network TV right now.

BTW, this is anything new on the show -- the gay brother has been dating with various relationships that ended up in disaster. One was with a priest who went off on a foreign assignment and they broke up.

Stan Lee, the creator of many famous comic book characters (spiderman, the X-men, etc) has started the process to create a gay superhero in the Marvel Universe.

There are already two gay characters I know of...

Angel
Colossus

But Stan Lee has been quoted as saying that he wants to start fresh with a gay character that is proud of what he is, and not hiding from it, and is adored by mankind in spite of his sexuality.

The whole merits of their character bit.

@djjd62,
I think that point is that being gay is always portrayed as being so far different from being straight.

If their is a gay character, they are defined by the fact they are gay.

@squinney,
Showtime is the only channel that seems to regularly show intimacy between same sex couples

@squinney,

There are gay characters, some prominantly placed, within regular tv shows, but has there ever been a sitcom or series based around an openly gay couple? Where that is the whole focus?

(Missed this thread the first time around)

I don't know about "focused around", but in Six Feet Under (2001-2005), the gay relationship between David and Keith is one prominent storyline among others. There's lots of gay sex in this series.
