I like the Swamp (Chi Tribune) and First Read for information that's pretty coolly relayed.

Lynn Sweet is often interesting.

You must know about Marc Ambinder -- I find him one of the more dispassionate ones, but he also often has really good info.

I've gotten used to Kevin Drum's new format.

(I adore hilzoy, though you mention her already. After I again was analyzing the campaigns for my mom, she was pushing me to start my own blog, and I said "Hilzoy already occupies the me niche, but she has way more time.")

You're way more cool-headed, less bitingly, intensely caught up in it all than Hilzoy. I love the way she fleshes out everything in detail, she really does a nimh-job at things better than I could ever do. But her temperament has gotten more like Cyclo's than yours (sorry Cyclo).

I like Ambinder, yes. Bit too much inside baseball, looking for a scoop type stuff (hey, he's a journalist), but definitely meets all the criteria I listed here. And thanks for the reminder about First Read, I read it when I come across it but I should just add it to my bookmarks toolbar.

Never heard of Lynn Sweet, will look her up, thanks for the tip!

No problem. It's an intensely emotional time for me; a whole year of hard-fought argument will do that for ya.

You ought to see the moods in the actual Obama offices I work at, on nights and weekends; people make me look even-handed.

You'd make a good blogger of the type nimh wants to read!

Hey, how about if you, me, nimh and FreeDuck join forces and start our own blog -- doing 25% of the work sounds less daunting than all of it, and we can riff off of each other. What say you?

Ooh, thats tempting..

Because you're right! I guess that's exactly what I'm looking for - blogs that read like Engineer's posts. Like yours, like FreeDuck's, and like Old Europe's. Like Thomas's too, to throw in a non-liberal voice as well. Craven/Robert's ones. Maybe Paaskynen's, if I can find him back, havent seen anything from him in a while.

Yeah, that would be a perfect line-up, in terms of interests, substance and tone. Could do with a bona fide leftist in addition -- well, I could be that one, maybe Cool

But if you like those, why are you seeking something else?

Cause I read those in 30 mins a day, and that's not enough for my daily fix! Razz

Thomas would be great, he's off my radar because of the whole politics ban. Maybe he'd step off the wagon for this.

I agree about Robert too.

FreeDuck? Engineer? What do you guys think?

@nimh,
I prefer to read all the blogs by surfing the crowd. So I don't tend to follow any one blogger specifically but instead I try to keep up with the whole blogosphere using blog aggregators and collaborative filtering.

This would be one example for politics: http://technorati.com/politics

I also use Google's blog search (http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch) and Google Alerts if I want to dig into any particular story.

@sozobe,
I don't wanna write any more blogs right now, but I'd love to help set it up and promote it. I've always wanted to get nimh blogging on a better platform than stuff like forums and myspace and group blogs can work out very well (just started a tech one with the a2k devs a few months ago).

@sozobe,
Very cool!

The reason that I wouldnt make a good blogger, though, is because I really do not have that much to say. Its why I like to participate here -- I need other people to push me and pull me into stuff. Every now and again, though, I do have something to say. So maybe a joint effort would work! Sounds exciting for sure!
